Survival Mode Warning - Deathclaws

Post » Sun Feb 14, 2016 11:57 pm

My Vault just got raided by Deathclaws.

My own fault for expanding past 60 to early, yes?

Nope.

I was sitting at 36 dwellers, having unlocked the endurance training room.

Raider Raider Raider Raider DEATHCLAWS Molerats!

Suffice to say, with the incident rate and 4 raider attacks just minutes before, the Deathclaws ran rampart. I managed to only loose one dweller, but everyone was on precariously low health.

Then, 1 minute later - mole rats.

No power, no food, no stim packs, but enough water, yey! The molerats killed of my vault.

So whatever you do, be aware that Deathclaws can attack at a brutally low level, either 35 or 36.

Brutal. Underscores that checkerboard layout is probably a pretty good idea for survival mode so individual room events can't wipe out your whole vault. Nothing you can do about the deathclaws of course, you just gotta hope to have enough folks with guns!

Yeah, molerats especially mean you have to at the very least seperate out the rooms you don't use often (i.e. storage and living quarters) so any events in them don't spread.

I quickly found out the only way to survive this mode is to buy 40 lunchboxes at the start and hope you get some good dwellers, but more importantly, some decent weapons.

It may be cheating and probably the reason Bethesda added it into the game in the first place, but its the only way I survived to hit 50 dwellers.

And yes it is very annoying when you get clumps of raids, they really should give you some breathing space between raids!
