svcker Punch

You're doing it again, raising it above criticism because "it's just bad". No one was expecting a good storyline, everyone was expecting a popcorn flick, and what they got was a boring movie.

Alright I see what I did there. But life goes on. Owell.

I just watched it. It isn't as bad as people say. The whole story is sad. If you watched "A series of Unfortunate events." Its beginning is very similar.
PS; Babydoll is soooo hot! :bonk:

It looks stupid to me, like it mixes every cliche possible: Chicks in skimpy clothing, katanas, slow motion, assault rifles, huge fight scenes, mystical powers, magic artifacts, alternative dream dimensions, it just looks like they looked in the B-movie bible to come up with it.

Sold! Gonna see if I can't find time to watch this tomorrow! :D

I may rent this when it hits Netflix. Because the story looks weak and I wouldnt spend 8 bucks to go see it at the theaters.

I watched the trailer #2 off the 360 yesterday and got Led Zeppelins when the levee breaks stuck in my head. Then I couldnt find my cd so I went to youtube and pulled up the song and noticed how many people said they had never heard of it until they watched the svcker punch trailer.......tis a shame.

I'm going to assume that you referenced that movie because the main character is in it.

I did not enjoy this movie. I'll admit, the trailer wowed me -- it had the whole silversun pickups track and it meshed well with the visuals. Sadly, the music in the actual film did not...I feel like it might have meant more to the director than to the audience...it was all really no name, independent rock music.

The CG dragon wasn't executed very well. It reminded me of a couple of weeks ago when I watched Dragon Heart, a classic Sean Connery Film dating back 15 years.

The worst part of this whole thing is the fact that I paid for my buddy's ticket, which was wasted as he spent the entire movie on bbm.

I should've seen Rango.

It was garbage. Don't watch it. It feels like it should have been 3 separate movies. Not to mention, it had every crappy cliche in it, AND done badly. It wasn't even over the top, it was pretty [censored] tame.

It might be awesome, it might svck. Either way, it's a movie I have to see just to have seen it. I'll be going to see it soon hopefully.

A group of friends and I saw it last night. It's not that bad of a movie actually. The narrative is really interesting, the action scenes are well executed, and the soundtrack is awesome. I think the problem most people had with the movie is that if you don't pay attention and question what the narrator is saying it doesn't make sense, I for one like movies written from a unreliable narrator perspective. In some parts the movie does get a bit too in your face from a philosophical aspect but over all good. Also I'm gay so this wasn't the selling but for me but this might work for the straight guys: Hot girls in skimpy clothing using guns and swords with explosions and action.

Overall I recommend it, a solid B film.

This film actually had a very deep, compelling, and emotional story that was cleverly hidden beneath chaotic action sequences.

The real reason this movie gets such bad reviews is because the average movie goer (and just about all movie critics) don't understand or want deep, compelling, and emotional stories, they want violence, CGI, nudity, and popular music (i.e. things that stimulate the pleasure center of the brain, not the thinking sectors).

I concur. I really liked the movie. It isn't as good as Watchmen but I think it's a must see.

Well i guess Spice World was ok , not sure it needed a sequel though. :hubbahubba:

This movie looks like a train wreck. Contrived and cliche. Is that a hot chick in a school girl outfit with a katana and dual wielding pistols? Who woulda guessed? What an original look for the main character.

What other movies has this guy done? Sin City , 300 , watchmen. Rewatch those movies. They have not aged well. What was innovative for the time has become quite campy.

I'll watch on netflix tho.

End Rant.

Oh don't pull that crap. It was not deep or great or emotional at all because it failed at EVERY CHANCE to make it that.

That's why it needed to be 2 desperate movies. One about a [censored] trying to escape her prison, and being constantly lorded over by a pimp. And another about mindless bullcrap shooting and killing.

No, there was no depth. Only a shallow illusion.

Edit: Its even more hilarious and destructive to your own argument that the movie had nearly all of
violence, CGI, nudity, and popular music.
It was just missing the nudity (and it had scantily clad women abounds).

I'll see it eventually. Probably in theaters though. I've heard a lot of garbage about it though which led me to not want to see it in theater. Plus my gf would get mad at me if I actually paid to see it right now, especially without her. :P

Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller directed Sin City.

I wound up not seeing the movie because of all the bad reviews it was getting, and I'm very glad I did. It's never a good sign when the majority of moviegoers hate it, and it's fans have to resort to the old, bullcrap excuse of "Oh, you just didn't understand it."

I'd usually give that excuse a chance, but when you have a premise like this... yeah.

That's what I was thinking. It's like they made live-action anime.

While I'm not gonna see it cause I'm broke as all get out, if someone pays for my ticket, I'll see it. If not, I'll just wait to redbox it. Seems like something I can just melt into for 2 hours.

Hrm...I liked Watchmen quite a bit (although I read the GN first) and thought 300 was way over-hyped (it was ok, but not anywhere close to as great as I'd been led to believe before I saw it). I've heard little but bad things about svcker Punch...both from friends (many of whom typically love the pulp action films) and reviews. Methinks I wait for Netflix.
