Edit - A couple friends and I. :tops:

Quite frankly, it looks like garbage. Now, Im one to watch a good action flick and hot chicks just for the lolz, hell I am a guy, but this one seems to.... campy. Maybe Im wrong but I doubt Ill see it any time soon.

I'll go see it next week. Release over here. I enjoy action with a surreal twist, even if its a tad mindless. RoboGeisha, Tokyo Gore Police... As long as the movie does not insult me (Looking at you, Kick-Ass!), I'm fine.

I can't say I've heard anything good about it, from both critics and moviegoers. I do like that critics have been comparing it to video games to describe just how bad it is.

I don't usually get to see many movies though, so the mindless action flick is pretty low on my to-see list when I do, but there's just something about http://nerdreactor.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/svcker-Punch-Samurai-Mini-Gun-Baby-Doll.jpg that I find appealing.

It looks stupid to me, like it mixes every cliche possible: Chicks in skimpy clothing, katanas, slow motion, assault rifles, huge fight scenes, mystical powers, magic artifacts, alternative dream dimensions, it just looks like they looked in the B-movie bible to come up with it.

The comments on the Rotten Tomatoes forums, from the people who were all "OMG, gotta see that!" are quite bad.

I'm still trying to work through everything else about it that rubbed me so wrong but by the time I reached the halfway point, I was zoning out during action sequences. I was bored. And I should not have been bored. I like Zach Snyder. I like his movies. I really do. I don't even mind his fast-slow-fast-slow thing (although it's shockingly overused here, rocketing past pure parody). I like hot schoolgirls with katanas, I like steampunk, I like zombies, I like mechs, I like dragons... I did not like this movie.

This is exactly how I was thinking going in.

I'm amazed I'm not still thinking that. Seriously, sooo much **** I like all in one place. The end result? Incoherent crap.

I'm really bummed out about it.

I'll be seeing it next weekend. I think it looks pretty good, but I'm not expecting too much on the story side. Nowadays I go to movies expecting them to be the worst movies ever, that way I don't get disappointed. :P

I haven't seen it yet, but despite all the negative things I keep hearing I'll probably still go see it. It's probably just my 15 year old male mind, but I thought the trailers looked ridiculously awesome.

I saw it last night. It was ok, but nothing really special. It was somewhat incoherent and was confusing about what they were actually trying to accomplish with the movie. The graphics were very cool though and I enjoyed the action sequencies quite a bit, though I could have done without the rest of the story. The fact that they tried to give you a heavy life lesson on a type of movie people see just for mindless action and cgi I could have done without. If your going to see it, go into it knowing you are there just for the action sequences and great cgi and not for any semblence of a story or plot. Anyway, I'd probly give it:

A: cgi
B-: acting
C: plot/life lesson

Overall B-.....not bad, not good, good waste of time.
I would however see it in the theaters rather than a rent because of all the great cgi.

The only reason I'd see this movie is just to zone out and watch the shiny visual style, which isn't such a bad thing though. I just wouldn't expect anything other than a descent movie at best though.

Pretty much this.

All through the trailer I kept expecting there to be a lisbian six scene (I mean, an asylum for hot chicks? really?).

Thought it looked terrible, and the review on Kotaku confirmed it. Apparently it sets the new standard for terrible, at least according to the review... on one (probably many) website(s).

When I saw the trailer, I thought to myself "This is a teenage boys freaking wet dream brought to life..." It seems to have everything I want, so I figure Ill go see it some time. Might be the first movie lacking a plot that I am interested in for years.

I'm seeing it tomorrow night and honestly I haven't been more hesitant to see a movie in some time. But my friend wants to go because of the special effects. Hopefully this isn't as bad as Avatar was, which had super-cool special effects but had annoyingly bad/cliche writing.

I've seen it.
Like most of you say, it's a complete incoherent pile of crap with absolutely no story at all. This movie is worse than Transformers 2, seriously. It's atrocious and a joke in terms of story.

...but on the other hand.
It looks amazing. If you want to see shiny things, hot girls in ridiculous outfits wielding katanas jumping around Dragonball Z style fighting dragons, sure, go see it. You wont be disappointed.

Well I definately won't be seeing it for the story.

Sometimes you just got to watch a movie to see some dragons, machineguns, and hot girls. People assuming or trying to even criticize this movie on story terms are idiotic, really this movie wasn't made to perplex your mind its just their to look good and sell.

That is precisely what I want to see. So I will like it.

If you go to a movie like this for the plot, your missing the point. Same thing with the Expendables (which I think is badass). Who the hell goes to a movie advertised like this and expects shakespeare?

I think people realise this, no one is going into it thinking it's a Academy Award hopeful
You know, there's a difference between a bad movie that's fun to watch, and a bad movie that's painful to watch, and saying "People assuming or trying to even criticize this movie on story terms are idiotic", doesn't raise the movie above all other criticism.

Sometimes a movie is just so bad people shouldn't even worry about whether its bad, its just bad.

It just seems that people state the obvious a bit too much.

You're doing it again, raising it above criticism because "it's just bad". No one was expecting a good storyline, everyone was expecting a popcorn flick, and what they got was a boring movie.
