Ok don't shoot me, I'm new to this party and still learning the ropes. Is there any way on the PS3 version to swap out what gear (armor) that your followers wear? Is it limited strictly to marriage partners? I have tried to swap Jordis into Gur armor that I have enhance to Legendary levels and have soups up with various enchantments but still no luck.

Fur armor.... Sorry for the typo..... She will equip the enchanted sword and now I gbe her but not the armor.... What gives?!?

You have to give her armor she's skilled in. Specifically, heavy armor.

Followers make their own decisions on what they will wear, and they will equip the armor that has the highest armor rating and provides the most protection - based on its base rating, not taking into account any improvements you have made via smithing. It's unlikely that Jordis (or any follower) will equip fur armor over something that has a higher base armor rating.

In addition, Jordis is classed as a Heavy Armor warrior type, if you are planning on using her as a follower you would be wasting one of her primary skills by giving her Light Armor to wear.

Ok, I was under the impression that if I improved it beyond the value of her Steel armor she would reequip. Didn't know it worked off the base value.

Pretty sure that it does - the reason she's using the sword is probably because she's judged it to be better than anything else she's got. I don't know if they consider enchantments when choosing gear, I'm gonna say 'no' as I've had followers unequip enchanted gear for an identical but unenchanted item.

If it's not the base rating that's the issue, it's what Necrovamp said above - she's skilled in Heavy Armor, not Light. She starts out with a fairly decent HA skill which will improve as she levels up until she reaches her level cap. Her LA skill starts at zero and will never improve. Eventually that might mean that even "plain" heavy armor of some kind will give her more protection than your souped up fur armor. At any rate she is never going to wear fur armor if she's got steel or some other heavy set in her inventory.
