swapping out BTB settings.esp for the alternative esp mid-ga

Post » Fri Sep 21, 2012 2:48 am

I've decided I want to swap BTBs settings module for the alternative settings module which doesn't affect levelling up rates. Does anyone know if it will be safe to swap them over and carry on with my current save? I'm ridiculously cautious about changing mods about mid-game - would I need to clean my save, or is the nature of the mod [edited GMSTs] as such that it would not pose a problem?
Any help would be grand

This shouldn't be a problem; I do that sort of thing all the time. Changing mods is not much of a risk since MCP was introduced. (you are using MCP, right?)

yeah I'm using MCP. Something that is now worrying me slightly though - I checked the readme for BTB's mod, and it says this at the end -

''Oh, and don't [censored] with the default load order. The "Spells" and "Settings" plugins both edit the sameNPCs, and only the latter (which should load after and override the former) contains both sets of edits''

Yet the Settings.esp and the Settings[Alternate].esp have different dates, which puts them in different places in my load order. Settings[Alternate].esp has the date - 05/10/2009, and Settings.esp has the date - 20/05/2011. In its current position, Settings[Alternate].esp does not load after Spells.esp, as it should.

Does this mean I should change the date of the Settings[Alternate].esp to the same date that Settings.esp is?

Gah.

hey, the man himself!
Could you peruse the above crap I just typed and let me know what to do?

Also, cheers for making this mod, its made morrowind an infinitely more fun game. And a sincere apology for not being able to hack the full extent of your harsh changes mate. Alas, I tried.

BTB's mod is one of the ones in http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1398805-relz-mlox-a-tool-for-anolyzing-and-sorting-your-load-order/, so this load ordering rule, along with many others is in its rule base. So, I'd suggest using mlox to fix your load order.
