@hollaajith, I'm gonna be releasing stuff as I go along, the horizon clouds are already available to download (see the first post), I'm gonna upload the moons soon too once I have a dedicated internet connection.

As for the rest of the skies, I'm still working on them. I feel like I have much higher standards this time around so the release might be a ways away but the end product should be a lot nicer than v3 was.

You're free to test it out once I upload the textures. It'll look pretty much the same without grain & vignette, it's just that well, the grain won't be there. I made sure to try and have very little digital noise in the textures this time. v3 was chalk full of ugly artifacts, digital noise/grain, blurry oversized pictures, and in general did a poor job of making use of the extra screen space. A lot of the new textures also lack much of the repetition that v3's textures had. The ones that are repetitive were done intentionally, to give the sky a uniform/uninteresting look while still being visually appealing.

Anyways, I'll stop blabbing and just conclude by saying you can test it out soon (and test the textures that are up already now if you wish).

Oh, I haven't added anything to the Sky_cloud_01.nifs either, I only managed to elongate it; it looks bad without my horizon meshes however. I haven't tried sub-dividing, I wonder what happens when existed vertices are separated from the main mesh... I'll have to experiment with that. My second horizon WIP used a 1024x2048 texture that had the main sky in a 1024x area, and then horizon clouds/clouds/misc in the other 1024x area. The only problem was that the sky_horizon.nif couldn't change texture when the game changed the cloud texture. But if some of the clouds are in the sky mesh (by subdivision and separation), that could work.

I can't wait for it, especially if we can view the weather settings ingame like in the OB and SK utilities. I'm particularly keen for separate lower/upper sky colours, I guess that could be done with vertex shading in blender for now. But man, Skyrim's climate system... Oooh yeeeah.

Also, do you want a copy of my horizon experiments?

Yeah, I'd like to take a look at what you've done. The sky meshes in Morrowind are really picky, so I'm interested in how you did it. Not sure if I'll end up putting anything like that into v4, since the bulk of the work is actually almost done now, but it would be neat to take a look at for the future.

New Beta Textures uploaded, beta folder now includes Moons, and additional textures. Please go test them out ingame!

EDIT: Also added new "sky_clouds_01.nif" with better horizon support, please download as well.

What did you do to the cloud nif exactly?

All I did is moved it down to zero on the Y position, and scaled it slightly smaller on z scale so that the clouds on the right and left of my sky textures are functionally horizon clouds, of course, they're hard to see through the fog, but the way I've made most of my v4 textures is that clouds closer to the center are designed so that they'll look good spread across the zenith or on the horizon, and clouds on the left and right of the texture are essentially horizon textures. Since the UV never scrolls these textures, they technically don't even have to be seamless, the texture only needs to be seamless up/down wise. I still made it seamless for convenience sakes though.

I haven't had a chance to try your horizon clouds mod yet, but if I can make some sort of universal texture that would look good in every weathertype, I may or may not include it in v4. No promises though, making edits like that to the weather system can be pretty scetchy.

Update: Added a blizzard texture. I also tested the snowy sky texture I made ingame, they both look how I intended them to, which I'm quite happy about.

Could people please test the textures in the first post with their different setups and post screenshots? That's what this release model was intended for, but I haven't had many people help me with that lately, I haven't even seen anyone post screenshots with the new moons. :/

I really like the new moons. They're quite an improvement, even when compared to the ones in version 3.

Is "sky_night_01.nif" from version three still required for these new skies to work correctly?

That mesh was never required. I think it may be used by non-Bloodmoon installs, but I always run Morrowind with at least Tribunal and Bloodmoon so I never figured out what it does. The "sky_atmosphere.nif" that I had included in the beta download was never required either, it actually breaks the game's sky rendering without MGE's atmospheric scattering, so I urge everyone who previously installed it to uninstall it.

Other than that, as long as you have the night sky fix and all the meshes included in v3, the V.IV stuff should work. It'll look nicer with the new meshes but it still works without them.

I play tested your new skies today and was really happy with the new night sky and moons, they are beautiful. The night sky is actually the first one I've found that I like as much as the original.
