[RELz] SWG's Skies v3

Post » Wed Jan 27, 2010 7:37 pm

Just out of curiosity... why have you not uploaded the night sky fix onto a more reputable download site?

I've never heard of 2share, and Firefox refuses to associate with it.

Because I was working on a bunch of minor fixes/improvements for v3 which were going to be put into a v3.1 before I started on v4, but now I don't have access to my computer. :(

I installed v3 today and i looked around in game and it looked really great except for the Night Sky...well that was
what i wanted to post but then i remembered that i hat not installed the fixed Nif for the night sky. After i did that and
checked the night sky again....WOW. I never thought i would find a night sky replacer that looked better then the one i
was using till today, but yours looks really amazing in game. :goodjob:

Well, good luck getting 3.1/4.0 released, SWG.

Until you do, I've hosted your fix on the mod list on my site:

http://btb2.free.fr/morrowind.html

I figured that you wouldn't mind.

I don't have access to my computer yet, so I can't start working on anything right now.

For v4 though, I had some ideas for giving Morrowind a particle powered weather system, distant clouds, ashstorms looming in the distance, etc...

Sounds good. Keep us all informed, and I'll try to keep my list up to date :)

...oh, and my apologies if the commentary on my site seems mean. That's just how I describe every mod. The fact that it's even on my list at all is tantamount to me saying that this is a mod that everyone should have (since that's the whole point of my list in the first place), so yeah... >.>

THe commentary isn't really what I'm worried about, except you unnecessarily giving Darknut credit for my work :toughninja: ... just that you put some screenshots of the vanilla crappy skies in place of where the real screenshots should be. :P

Oh, and I don't think you hosting the fix is at all necessary, I just checked out the original host page of it and the download works fine.

Yeah, all of the screens are placeholders right now. I wanted to take my time to get some good ones to put up instead of halfassing it, but I wanted to post what I already had since the screens were all I hadn't done yet.

But I promise I'll try to get the screens for your mod first :)

It technically works, but that is still the most [censored] obnoxious file host I have ever seen, complete with about three download links that look like the real one, but aren't.

Well, SWiG (that's how I pronounce your name when I say it out loud), I'd like you to know that your mod was one of the first ones I got screenshots for and posted :P

I also went back and rewrote a lot of my commentary on it, since I've sort of changed my mind on a few subjects. I really am curious as to why the "optional" sky textures aren't the ones you actually used. Care to shed some light on that one?

Oh, yeah, and you may want to go back and have a look at your "Reset to Vanilla" MINI template... you're missing quite a few settings from it.

Your loss, because they look great. Though I use different ini tweaks.

The night sky is great, i don't care much for some of the other skies, some has such great detail that they become too much of an distraction, i like when the sky blends in a bit more (less detail) so you just see it as something in the background rather than having skies that are as detailed as the landscape itself almost. They're far from ugly though, quite the opposite.

ok i just downloaded it and it says it fixed the night skies but mine look like a 5 year old glued them all over my screen, and they dont look anything like the ones in your vid, any way to fix this, and a more improtant question, do you have to have MGE to use this?

Did you also download the Night Sky fix? It's right there beside the main download.

idk that I've got quite the same problem, but art least you have night skies...I downloaded and installed both the base pack and night sky fixes just fine but all i get is a blank mesh for a night sky...i'm not quite sure why it comes up as a blank mesh either, could it be something to do with an improper ini tweak in one of the two MiNi files included for a night sky?

Might seem like a dumb question, but to install it I take it i just copy all the meshes and textures folders across and hey presto!?

You need to put the texture files (.dds) into the data files\textures folder and the meshes (.nif) into the data files\meshes folder. Make sure to use the fixed night sky mesh too or it'll be messed up.
