[RELz] SWG's Skies v3

Post » Thu Jan 28, 2010 1:52 am

That fixed it. :)

Great, can anyone else confirm?

After this I'm gonna try to fix the Ashstorm issues, the sun issues are beyond me. Other than those, is there anything else I should fix before repackaging a v3.1?

Well I had no idea this was going to happen, I'm using all the meshes in the pack without issues.

Anyways, to all that had issues with the night sky, could you try http://www.2shared.com/file/6922846/3ce2f1b7/sky_night_02.html and report what happens? Some screenshots would be nice too.

snip

According to your shots, this is how the night sky is supposed to look, that appears to have fixed it. The shots below are caused by the INI values, there some stuff in there I forgot to tweak up before release, the overcast sky tweaks look pretty dumb IMO too, I gotta change those.

EDIT: I solved the ashstorm particles issue by using my blizzard particle texture as an ashstorm particle texture, it needs a few tweaks, but it looks great.

Everything is good but in my opinion, maybe you could tone down those sun rays so there isn't so much excerting from the star.

I downloaded your mesh fix thing and that fixed my night skies. Everything looks really good and I also have my moons really big so I love the detail they show now. Great Job

I wouldn't exactly call that realistic sunglare :P
But everything looks great! I really like your blizzard textures, and your ashstorm shot.

Some criticism, your night sky seems a bit bear. Maybe add some different colored stars? Brighter ones etc?

Yeesh, I can never release anything nowadays without something going wrong...

You've just released 140 MB of a mod: a total weather replacement. That's abnormal. And you've fixed one of problems already.

About the sun, I've tried to fix the issue, but I'm really not sure how, it's not that noticeable, but the alphamap isn't what's causing the problem, since it's all black around the edges.

I opened your file and around the borders of alpha channel, it is 98% black, not 100% black. ;) Maybe 30 years from now, I can't tell the difference but now I can.

I can't do that, my console won't let me type in quotation marks, don't ask.

I was thinking the same thing because I was opening the console with quotation marks key already until I press shift + some local key around enter, so it turns out I can type quotation marks. I learned that while trying weather change command. Maybe you can find your local key too. :)

With the night sky fix it is beautiful. Congrats on the release. You could have literally been a rock star, if you would have wanted.

PS. With the night sky mesh, what went wrong, can I ask?(Yoda strikes again.)

The UVmap was all messed up and there were holes in it, the night sky was only working for me because it was displaying the other night sky mesh instead of the broken one, but now with the fix it should work for everyone.

I will admit I tested it at full resolution and it worked perfectly with no impact, but I did resize it anyway as the visual difference was marginal.

If anyone wants it lower rez, they can easily do it themselves if they want too.

I'm giddy as a schoolgirl, I even think I finally figured out what was wrong with Phal's .DLL, I'm about to test it out, I think it was a mere registry error......I know, I'm an idiot for not cleaning the registry after changing the file, but meh, I guess I'm only human. :P

Edit: Did I mention I love these skies? No, well darn, my human nature strikes again! :D

Gorgeous. Absolutely gorgeous. But did my sky always scroll that fast? I will have to see if there is something in the ini about that. And I suppose the sunglare is a little too... rayed for my taste.

Hey SWG, just installed your skies, they look magnificent! :)

I've run into some issues, though... apart from what's been mentioned before, the sun glare texture seems to suffer from the black sun bug, atleast I've got a black sunglare  Also, your sun texture has the same alpha channel / border issue as the sun glare texture. Like Xev said, you might want to use another compression format.

Hey does thsi fix the sun/ graphics card ( vista ) glitch?

@ AquaNord Im sure the bugs have to do with your graphics card as these are really noticeable gliches so i think SWIG shouldnt of used that graphics card thats why your sun is black :P

@Wolf, I know it's my graphics card, YAY Ati... I just pointed it out, in case SWG might decide to make a 3.1 version with bugfixz0rz. ;)

I had planned to make a patch for the black sun, but I was unsuccessful in fixing the problem.

Just out of curiosity, would me removing the night sky meshes/textures inadvertently mess up anything else added by this mod?

Bummer, hopefully someone else knows how to fix it? *hopes for them to read* I guess I'll have to do with the old sun for now (I suppose that still works?)
