Post » Fri May 27, 2011 10:55 am

Sigh, next time, I'd appreciate it if you guys made sure I'm not the last to post on this thread, I don't like double posting! :(

http://i32.tinypic.com/349fbjm.jpg, Marslike sky colours, based on http://www.globalphilia.com/projects/theearthship/IMAGES/2005298415122618502_rs.jpg, still need to modify the ambient colours...

I fixed the first problem you reported in the repairing the cogs thread, im going to test the second one now but if what you say is true then idk if ill be able to. However, do you know why attaching an alpha will force it in front of everything?

I heard during sunrises and sunsets, mars skies look blue, just the opposite of earth where it looks red during those times.

Ooh. In that first shot (2 or 3 posts up) I didn't like the so-red-ness of the skies, but those shots look excellent, especially the sunset one.

Heh, one of these days somebody'll need to make a unified ambience/atmosphere replacer. ;)

It's meant to be that red, they are marslike settings after all, if I was going for more truth, then they'd be even more red!

What should I make the rest of the weathers settings like then? I'm not sure myself, I was just going to add a pinkish/orangish hue to all of them, but I'd like a better idea...

I'd only really like the idea of red, orange and pink skies if it were region dependant.

Tbh I think your shots without ini tweaks look awesome, just how I would like it, so I probably wont use the tweaks myself...

All my shots have INI tweaks, the ones in the shots you've specified are using my Earthlike settings, which are manditory anyways or else the mod won't work right.

Any updates on the sunbeam glare gradient banding in V2? Is this fixed for V3 or is it still being worked upon?

I've made a completely new sunglare texture, if you didn't see, a screenshot is http://s3.tinypic.com/2eg64bl.jpg. That one I was using in v2 was from Sonic Ether's beaming sunglare mod for Oblivion, which I now hate. :P

Yea, its too different for my tastes.

Its a nice mod, I'm just probably not gonna use v3. Sticking with v2.

Why? What's wrong, personally I hate beaming sunglare now, it's really unrealistic and extremely overpowering.

But why aren't you going to use v3? All the stuff is chooseable, you don't have to use the sunglare for it, you can just use the skies.

Not sure what you mean with extremely overpowering, but I have to say that I find the Oblivion version "realistic" and immersive, which is why I've wanted it for Morrowind in the first place. If you hate it I wouldn't recommend working on it in the first place though.

So far it seems that v2 is better than v3 because I don't think Morrowind has mars skies, nor do I want mars skies. Also, I don't find the new sunglare realistic at all, the Oblivion one looks a lot better and more immersive as Argnkt said.
Your mod is just heading in a different direction then I personally want. Nothing wrong with that.
You have great artistic talent, I just don't like the direction your mod is going with mars/red skies etc.

Now that exactly suits my tastes. 10/10 sun glare... If I never ended up using your skies, I will be definitely using your sun glare. :P

I have faith in you, just take all help you can from MGE developers and finish it with your vision, don't let any technical difficulties limit your imagination. :mohawk:

The mars skies are optional, I already have settings for earthlike skies, the marslike skies were done on request. I'm sure there's something that'll suit your tastes, look at some of the screenshots on the first post (of which I've really got to update).

Err... then I've got to load up the game again and take more, erm, let's see if I have any of them in my tinypic album...

EDIT: Here's http://i44.tinypic.com/fbkw81.jpg, and http://i32.tinypic.com/sl06cm.jpg, I'll have to take more if you want some more updated shots, there's tons of skies I haven't shown yet...

Ok, this thread is on 199, I'm considering ditching the other optional changes for the Marslike sky tweaks, and blue starred planet tweaks (the second I haven't even started yet) from the main D/L so I can release this like now, I need some quick opinions before this thread gets locked, the optional settings will still get released later, but the main download will get released today.

Hmm.

Goodie! What can I say, I really have no bad things to say, I think you've fixed up everything, it looks glorious!

Now the only thing I'm wondering about is how would other textures need to be refitted to the new sky mesh? I wonder 'cause I have a few skies of my own that I'd rather not exchange haha.

Will def try this out before, keeping my own as backups 'til I make up my mind completely hehe =)

Wonderful work!

And early congratulations!
