Swimming argonians

Post » Tue Mar 29, 2011 10:59 pm

Na, they should swim like tigers, and be able to launch themselves out of the water high enough to grab a man by the head >> (go watch River Monsters, great show)

Ah, I should actually. Wanted to keep up with that show when it premiered, but I have slacked since season 1. Thanks for the reminder :)

But at any rate, I think dynamic or unique animations tailored for each race is a fantastic idea.

I'd like them to do a calming backstroke.

I want them to use their tail as a rudder or paddle again.

if each race does the same move-both-arms-out-to-the-side swim, all they need to do is the same with argonian, but when his hands reach his hips, they stay there longer and he proppells forward a bit faster.

I really hope this happens... It'd even be pretty cool if the argonians in the water functioned something like the http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jgrqcOKIAzU&t=0m31s

Yeah, you're not the only one who thinks so...

I think it would be really good if it was like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jgrqcOKIAzU&t=0m31s, although maybe a bit slower and less over the top... but you get the idea.

Thats so weird too, because i just found that video and i was gonna put it in my post the same way and add "maybe without all the spins and stuff"... Weird i missed that post too, as i scanned through the thread.

Yep, better and unique swimming animation that makes use of their tail. Also something along the lines of clearer vision underwater for Argonians or some other bonus.

I'm hoping for those too. More swimming speed and better underwater vision at least.

And since fish are confirmed, they could sneak up on them and snatch a few to restore health. Those omega-3 fatty acids are good for ya.

Yeah. Also jumping after the fishies is more exciting than waiting with a fishing rod. :D

as much as i despise beast races i think that argonians should have a noticable speed advantage in the water and kitties should be able to either sprint faster or jump a bit higher since they are cats after all.

I'm actualy hoping, now that it is confirmed that they are trying to create a unique gamestyle for each race, that argonians will benefit more than just water breathing in water. I'm sure there is a thread for this somewhere, but I'm new and lazy.

Not only should they swim differently, which should mean different speed, but they should have attribute bonuses or something similar. Because frankly, it is useless to have argonians as water creatures if the only bonus they get can be replicated easily by any other race.

Absolutely. In fact i will be dissapointed if they swim lilke normal people. I'm getting tired of people saying "too much programming/ animation work" on threads like this one. It's as if Bethesda are crippled or working above their limit. They are a big team with a lot of experience, remember.

hahaha, sometimes i feel like people just expect bethesda to make the game with no bells and whistles at all...

Bethesda has taken a lot of time to make this game... I'm sure they're gonna take time to add things like nice swimming animations.

I think they should 'swim' like this:

Looks like that Argonian casted water walk.

Adding an animation for swimming argonians arent that much work comparing to other suggestions. Also it does not require other things to be modified for it to fit in, and it does not change the general feeling in the game, it just adds to it.

the animation of the character does not depict the speed of the character in games. It would be completely viable to have a specific swimming animation for argonians and not have the movement speed slowed down.
