Swinging swords.

Does anyone that has had time with the game feel like clearing up dual-wieldings timing? I want to know if while sword A Is in mid-swing I can swing sword B. Because if not then why dual-wield at all?

You cannot swing swords in Skyrim, this has been confirmed. They are for looks only.

If you hold down both arm buttons you will do a power attack with both weapons. You can enchant each weapon with two enchantments for a total of four. You can get the benefit of two types of weapon perks (e.g. crits and bleeding, or bleeding and armor ignore, etc) without having to take time to switch weapons.

But really from both a pragmatic and an animation standpoint, swinging your second weapon while already in mid attack with your first would result in reduced attack power for both. Look at how the player swings the sword in third person (1:20 in the first E3 video) - he uses his whole body to put power behind the swing.

I understand all of this mainly just want to know about the timing thanks.

You can swing both swords at the same time by tapping both triggers, or do a combo power attack like the spin move in the trailer by holding both triggers. Confirmed in the latest PC Gamer magazine.

You asked why dual wield at all if you can't swing your second weapon while in mid attack with the first. I answered your question. But really, watch the first high quality E3 video around 1:20. See how he uses his whole body to put power behind the swing? Imagine being an animator trying to get the same effect with a second attack starting halfway through. Maybe those are power attacks, but it's hard to say. Pretty sure it's a regular attack as there is no grunt and it takes the same amount of time as the regular attack in first person.

Pretty sure it is one at a time. Unless you do the power attack. Maybe there is a perk that lets you do what you say.

Aight well thanks for the info so far everybody I'm happy for now. As far as the swinging both Weapons at the same time I'm almost expecting the damage to be cut, but I would hate to have to wait for 1 to finish befor I started swinging the next attack.

Guy has a legit point, with the lack of blocking its going to be swing timers that make or break dual wielding. Unless you just want to look cool as you pointlessly flail around.
