'F' didn't work ? beginning of game, going into castle keep ? character not fully created yet ? i read you can't go into 3rd person until the character is created ? thanks pc

The game doesn't allow you to go into 3rd person until after the bonds have been cut from your wrists.

The vanilla game won't allow you. With mods, you can go around the limitation.

Speaking of myself, I was able to switch to 3rd person with http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/49036/? & http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/9557/?. The latter, fixes the awkward sequence when the character gets off the cart.
