Switching between windows and game

Post » Sat Jun 26, 2010 10:15 am

Windows 7 64 ultimate.
How come win key doesn't work within FNV, I can go to windows only by alt+ctrl+delete to task manager but when I try to enter the game again by clicking on it nothing happens.

This is a real problem because I often have to exit the game to check a map or quest online...

If you use Steam, use the Steam Browser. Just ALT+TAB and click Browser. I <3 it for using Wiki.

Developers usually disable that key in shooters (and most other games), because its annoying to tap it by mistake; and some games can fail to recover.

The "safest" way to switch back to the desktop, is to bring up the game menu, then press (and hold) the ALT and tap the TAB key (then release). Alt+Tab is the long standing keyboard method for switching applications in Windows.
Just click on the game in the Taskbar (or even Alt+Tab) when ready to resume.

Wow, just got the presidential suite, no option to renovate nor are there any themes to purchase like in Fallout 3, so disappointed.

You can renovate in the form of buying new containers, thats it.

Yeah, hittiing the Esc key to bring up the menu and then Alt-Tab out to desktop or orher running application seems to work pretty well.

You might need to have something running in the background to alt-tab out to.

Juts open a browser page and then load the game. Alt-Tab from that point onwards will take you to the browser page and you'll have control of the machine.

Every PC version is a Steam version (except maybe the russian version?), as long as Steam is in online mode, this works. But for me it's shift+tab.

The Gamebryo engine (The engine that Fallout: New Vegas runs on) doesn't like being minimized. Most times I try it'll fail to come back up, leaving me only the option to close the program. It's done this on my past three rigs, through Fallout 3 and Oblivion.
