Switching from PS3 to PC (is it worth it?)

Post » Mon Feb 25, 2013 10:29 pm

I have Crysis 3 on console now (PS3).
The graphics are very mediocre but it is still a very nice game. The lag however makes the Multiplayer Gameplay absolutely impossible. You instantly die all the time and it's often impossible to kill anyone, no matter gow good you are.

My PC should be able to run it. (i7 3770, 16 Gb RAM, GTX 660)

So my questions:

Is there lag when you play on PC?

I want to use a PS3 controller on the PC, is it a great dissadvantage compared to mouse/keyboard?

Thanks for the feedback.

if you run everything on low with minimal AA vsync off then the multiplayer is pretty smooth and still looks amazing. Thats on ati gfx for me.

some good game play from frankie and shows you how the game plays on pc on low.

Ill reply to the controller part first - I would highly recommend not using a controller for multiplayer, it would be ok for single player but in multi I cant imagine you standing a chance head on with a good player using mouse / keyboard.
As for the pc - the graphics are very nice, and it plays well but you should read some posts on here first, a lot of people are having performance issues, I personally havent got it bad I can run single player at 60fps most of the time apart from the fps / gpu usage dips which a lot of people are having and its looking at game patches hopefully making these right, and multiplayer I can play at liquid smooth 60 fps pretty much constantly, I havent seen it on consoles but the graphics are sweet on pc , even on multiplayer and these are " dumbed down " somewhat compared to SP graphics, as is the case in most modern games.

The lag you will be experiencing is C3 being very GPU intensive, even with the right drivers.

No, I said "the lag you WILL BE experiencing". I had missed putting in the "be" part.

Ofcourse, p2p netcode kills all fun of MP gaming.

No, as long as you pick server with good ping 20-50 ish you are 99.9% of the time good!
There is no such delay as on console where you see killcam that someone shot you 2 minutes and for you it felt like 0.1 seconds! NO this BS aint happening on pc anymore!

Oh and your posted PC spec will run this game perfectly!!!

I want to use a PS3 controller on the PC, is it a great dissadvantage compared to mouse/keyboard?

You can use it, in SP its okay I think but in MP... no.... just no..
you get totally ****raqed if you use controller, just practice using mouse and keyb and in the end you WILL NEVER go back to controller again - that I can promise :)

Heh quite mild anti-controller responses on this site, for which many thanks. If you like controller, like me, you'll find it works great on C3, plug and play without needing any prompts just like BF3, (thankyou EA or whoever) and if you are a whizz at it you can compete fine. I would estimate you are at a disadvantage, but only a slight one, and you have the pros of greater satisfaction when you do well, the trigger (my XBOX 360 controller trigger cannot be beat for feel) the relaxed and natural playing position, and C3 so far, having played it for one day, puts you at less disadvantage than the many other games I've used it for, probably due to the stealth aspects of the game.
