Wait... It's called the Sword of SHIV?

This is NOT a Star Wars reference, then. Well, maybe partly.

Is it a Scimitar looking sword? Because if it is, it's a reference to the Sword of Shiva. An Indian (like from India) goddess with 4 arms and had a magical sword of light.

Where did you find this sword? I have several shivs but they just look like the tool you use to rotate a lock when lockpicking. Also shivs are improvised weapons made for stabbing, usually in prison where acquiring weaponry is difficult.

Ah-ha! I found it!

During the Companion quest "Animal Extermination", inside the cave you are sent to, there is a skeleton hanging upside down from the ceiling. Below the skeleton is a glowing sword. This makes reference to Star Wars when Luke Skywalker was caught on Hoth and hung from the cavern ceiling. The sword below representing his lightsaber. (This quest is a Radiant quest, please provide name of location as quest locations differ each playthrough)

It looks nothing like a lightsaber, however, nor does it make the sounds. I've encountered this before in my first playthrough.

Complain complain complain. ALL I see on the forum these days. Out of tons of weapons, one looks identical to a lightsaber and your gonna bash on it?

How is it that people can even play this game with the amount if complaining they do?

I found a youtube video about it, and it seems that the sword is just an enchanted greatsword that looks nothing like a lightsaber...OP should link us to a picture of this tubed, glowing weapon.

Have none of you ever played with Bound Weapons? The Bound Sword is a blue, fluctuating energy sword and makes a what I think is a "whiiir" sound as it slashes through the air, albiet at a lower pitch than the Star Wars lightsaber. It's also very cool to summon 'em Dual Wield in both hands.

Edit: Conjuration weapons can allow you to easily ignore Smithing even on Master difficulty, although not as good as abusing 2 or 3 of the crafting skills. Try it!
