Sydney from the National Archives building?

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 8:05 am

Hi, new to the forums and FO3, been playing about a month. I'm on my first playthrough. So, I have a question. I was doing the Reilly Rangers quest "return to their place" and came across Sydney in the National Archives building. Jericho and I helped her get the Declaration, and now she wants me to take it to Abraham Washington. If I finish the Rangers quest first, will she tag along? Or do I have to do her quest first? This is my first RPG, and has quickly become my favorite, and most addicting game I've played lol. Don't think it makes a difference, but I'm playing on a PS3. No cool mods like some of you have :( thanks for any help or suggestions

As addictions go FO3 is one that I recomend to freinds!

I think, others might be able to confirm, that Sydney will stay with you and follow you around until you return to Rivet City to complete the declaration quest. She behaves like a follower and can be helpful in some fights, but she can be tricky to keep alive at other times though. I don't think she counts as a follower so you can still keep Jericho and have Syd at the same time and continue to play and complete quests as you see fit. Once you return the declaration she will take her share and leave but you might bump into her again on your travels :)

Cool, thanks. I may just goto Rivet City, if I remember right, I need to go there next for the "following his footsteps" quest anyways.

By the way: Did you find her father in the hotel where the Rangers were? :)

He's on the upper level, though in a rather bad shape. Check your notes, if you have an audio log from him, you bumped into him. :)

Worth it, you get something good from Sydney if you can find her father.

I actually like it simply for the story. It's one of my favourite little side stories in the game.

Being a dad, one of mine is a daughter, I cried when I heard the tape for the first time.

If you like Sydney, you owe it to yourself to get the http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=9320.

It is hands down the best custom companion mod I've ever seen; a well-thought-out personal questline, FULL voicing for every single one of her dialogue options, and a companion who manages to be effective without being OP.

Again, if you like Sydney and want her to stay on, you owe it to yourself to try this. Make sure to enable it before you finish the quest, if possible; makes recruiting her easier.

To directly answer your question, Sydney will stay with you as long as you don't finish her quest; she will act like a normal companion. Still, I recommend getting the mod, though; it makes her a much better companion with the added perk of her not dying, just getting knocked unconscious.

I did a couple other quests, then finished hers. I liked her better than Jericho. Yeah, I had the tape from her dad, got her 10mm smg. I'd do the mod, but I'm playing on a PS3 :( thanks for the info everyone.

if you ask her about her father over and over again you can get more than one of the items she offers at the end of the quest, it's an in game bug, but helps build up coinage early on.
