V-sync and mouse issues

Post » Tue Nov 17, 2015 2:02 am

So I got skyrim for the pc and have not been able to play for months now because all I do is spend time tweaking. I can't turn of V-sync because that will make my FPS go over 60 and then I will get very annoying physics and engine issues. But If I keep V-Sync on and I get mouse lag. I cannot believe that this got passed as a game on the PC. It is ridiculous how much tweaking I have to do just so I can even play the game properly. I have also read countless complaints on this same exact issues on fallout 4 already. Did bethesda not read any of the hundreds of complaints online. I really think that this is ridiculous and even more so that it carried on to Fallout 4 too. Could anyone help me out.

You can try:

  • Create a backup of the SkyrimPrefs.ini file.
  • Open the file, then scroll down to where it says [Controls] and find bMouseAcceleration=1.
  • Change to bMouseAcceleration=0.
  • Save, exit.

...also you could try a fps limiter.

There's a small amount of input lag with VSync. That is common in many games. It more noticable on some systems and for some people. I definitely notice it.

There's alot of debate going on about it. AFAIK the only thing that really eliminates the input lag is something like a FPS limiter or GSYNC/FREESync. ALthough the FPS limiter can introduce tearing, but it's worth a try.

isnt the whole point of a fps limiter to eliminate screen tearing?

Nope. That is what VSync does. A frame rate limiter may NOT tear, but that's hardly eliminating it. You may have to fiddle around with it some. It will get rid of input lag definitely.
