[WIPz][RELz] T3T_MiscItemIcons

Post » Sun Feb 06, 2011 12:20 am

So I've learned how to create icons. I've made a few for T3T_WT and now I feel I can address a commonly overlooked area; Miscellaneous Items sharing exactly the same icon.

So I started with the schematic weapon parts, released it, and now I'm releasing new versions with more icons, at least until I get cranky, or until they are all done.

Nice idea, this has always slightly bothered me, and I'm glad it's being worked on.

HugePinball, who got it from Drag0nTamer. I think it may exist in post form on the FOOKunity forums, otherwise I'm not sure.

Thank you very much for taking the time to do this :) I think this is one of those things that you don't know you wanted until someone starts making it. It is very nice to have a variety of pictures to look at in the pipboy instead of the few options over and over again. Nice work! Hope you don't get cranky and finish the whole thing!

Damn skippy. I've been looking off and on, trying to see if someone had made it yet or not.

I'm glad that someone is finally doing a glorious and honourable task - puttin' images to words.

It's great that you're diversifying the clutter icons! The default trash icon for the various misc items, albeit not a major problem, always bothered me. I even requested different icons in a thread of an item description mod over at FalloutNexus, but nothing ever came of it. It's fantastic that someone is shouldering this massive task now. :)

The icons look great so far, they match the original FO icons very well.

Well, the components that didn't have Icons in the Nuka Grenade now do, the Tin Can and Abraxo Cleaner.

Also, Turpentine actually has it's own icon, it's just never used. It will be used now, though. Strange as to why they didn't use it.

Very cool, you mind if I ask how you are getting the images? Are you making them by hand each time or do you pull some PhotoShop trickery and actually take a picture of the item then apply some filters, adjust the color and make an overlay of the shape type deal? Just curious :)

I take a screen of the item in NifSkope, then use the pen tool to trace shapes, then I turn the work path into a selection, and fill it in with the brush tool. Then I convert the image (it starts at 1600x1200 for good detail) to icon size.

So all I have left is the Shishkebab, Rock-It Launcher, and Deathclaw Gauntlet Schematic Parts to give icons too. At least the deathclaw hand has one.

Abraxo and Tin Can, used to make Nuka Grenades, Nuka-Cola Quantum had an Icon, Turpentine actually had an Icon but was never used, it'll be in game now though.
