[Req] Tabaxi Khajiit Replacer

It says in the tabaxi 2.0 description that there's supposed to be a tabaxi 3.0, but the estimated release was over 2 years ago and I haven't been able to find it. I was wondering if Luchaire or anyone else ever made a tabaxi replacer for the khajiit? If no one has I might just try to learn how to use the OB CS and do it myself.

I should have mentioned I already did that. I was hoping someone had maybe made one for personal use and wouldn't mind sharing, or had uploaded to a less known site.

Not Luchaire himself, but several other people. Search for "Khajiit" at tesnexus - most of the time the people didn't mentioned the Tabaxi in name, but instead called their mod "XYZ Khajiit" (in which XYZ is mostly the name of the author).

I didn't find any replacers other than http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=29030, but I did find http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=35579 which I now wish were a Khajiit replacer. :banghead:

Could someone a bit more familiar with the CS give me a list of all the things I'd have to do to replace the khajiit with DesuChan's Kawa-Khajiit. I've watched a tutorial on youtube on how to make a new race, but I need to know everything I'll need to do to not have any glitches. I need to know things like will I need to replace all the khajiit hairs to be compatible with the new heads.

If your willing to give this such detailed attention, I can give you an easier method but it will not include the head/eyes/ears/hair/whiskers - Just a body texture replace, which may lead you on to doing the rest - I never bothered because I like khajiit heads the way they are and use Tabaxi for a different head, I just wanted to give Khajiit a good body textures for Rob Male and HGEC (but using TGND meshes).

Seamless Hi-Res Khajiit and Tabaxi Textures for HGEC.

A lot of good information and clues as to how things are done there and in the files readme's.

There are five files. One of which the optional file, Khajiit fix, is just an esp which is mergeable in the bashed patch, and pulls all files together properly for Khajiits

You just need to know what texture files to install along with it. I have used Sun1B textures for HGEC Female Khajiit before, but I am currently using the files from DesuChans because that also includes Rob Male textures, and a few extra normal map textures for better detail.

They just need renaming - If using my method, dont use the Pale/Kuro/Shiro versions (they would also need the relevant head etc and mismatch with HGEC head)

To help in renaming them, use OBMM or OBMMex BSA browser, and extract all files from oblivion textures bsa to a temporary folder, then have a look in \characters\khajiit ... When you install files loosely the game skips the same named file in the bsa if you are using archiveinvalidation method or BSA Redirection - The file names you just found out from extracting the bsa are the file names you need to apply to desuchans files :) (obviously only for personal use)

Your going to need a folder textures\characters\khajiit\
and in there two folders - male and female

in male I have

footmale_n.dds

in female
footfemale.dds
footfemale_n.dds
handfemale.dds
handfemale_n.dds
claws.dds
claws_n.dds
tail.dds
tail_n.dds

Those last two tail files, I am not using desuchans, a better tail which matches the desuchan/HGEC body texture better than his own I think is...

Hope some of the above helps, I have the above textures folder in a Wrye Bash Bain installer which is the best method for installing a series of textures.....

The other way of replacing Khajiits is Slofs Better Beasts (or Slofs Better Bodies which now includes Slofs Better Beasts) - But its Rob Male and Rob Female only, dont even ask if she will be supporting HGEC, likely to get your ears chewed off :)

Edit: You may hear mention of Ahtata Khabaxi Khajiit - It was an illegal rip of some of Luchaires files out of Tabaxi, and she was not happy. The file occasionally gets re-posted by people who dont know that history ... and promtly banned again.

Thanks for the info, but I want to completely replace the Khajiit body, head, hair and eye meshes/textures. With a little reading/watching of tutorials, I'm hoping I'll be able to pull it off. If not, I can at least say I tried.

Maybe http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=29030&navtag=file/images.php?id=29030&tab=3 (which I now see is one of those you have found already) will be of use to you.
You can remove anything related to Argonians, and also remove all entries to them in the plugin file, for example by using TES4Edit (if the changes to them aren't in a different plugin anyway).

It seems like the author edited the head model so that the usual Khajiit eyes will fit in, and I believe Tabaxi have normal human eyes? So that means that you'll have to remove the head mesh, and replace it with the normal human head mesh, I guess. You'll have to open the plugin file in the Construction Set as well and assign the proper eyes to the race.

Note that the mod does not seem to use the Tabaxi textures, so you'll have to take the Tabaxi textures and overwrite the corresponding textures from this mod with those.

Edit: Good thing about this method is that the author already took care of a lot of things that are more difficult for someone who's never made a race. He already converted the Khajiit hair to fit the new head, for example. (He left one out because he didn't like it, though, and replaced it with a "sixy" hairstyle...)

I don't really like that one, but I might use the hairs to replace the originals. Thanks for pointing that out.

It's worth noting that Tabaxi eye textures are not vanilla mesh compliant. I think they use Elaborate Eyes. Each eye texture has two eyes on it, instead of the vanilla one, so that they can have different colored eyes. In some cases(such as maybe Race Balancing Project, I don't remember clearly), the use of these eye meshes is irrelevant simply because the eye choices don't include the fancy Heterochromia eyes, which is the whole reason to USE elaborate eyes.

Well, I tried. I renamed all the kuro-kawa-khajiit stuff to replace the khajiit, I used the CS to replace the head(eyes/teeth/ears/etc.) and I used mikegemini's hairs to replace the originals. When I created a character she was constantly staring to the right, there was only one eye color and I couldn't change the color of mikegemini's hairs. The body and tail looked fine though. I, and I'm sure others, would be very grateful if someone a lot more experienced in modding Oblivion could do this, but if not I guess I'll have to live with retextured vanilla Khajiit and just play as a Kawa-Khajiit myself.
