I don't think there is any such thing as a reputable game site.
It is good to be reminded that most people on this board have played a (likely out of date) beta, and there is still plenty of time for changes and improvements.

If they have quests following up on the starter quest line on the orc island, they could just make those follow-up quests unavailable until you have done the prerequisite quest (you can go back to the starter islands to do those quests later). It's been done in lots of other games before.
Patch notes are only getting me more excited to play. Looks like many new nice features & fixes have been put in!
If they add collision detection a lot of people around here are gong to have big ol slice of humble pie.
How many times have I seen it posted that it will never be possible and that anyone who asks for it is an idiot who needs to shut up?
If they can add it then how futile was the postings from them that wanted it after all?
About as futile as all the crying that ZOS ignores everybody and hates its fans.
collision detection in pvp would be terrible i think...no one would be able to get close enough to a door to spawn a batter ram
tbf its still only for NPC's. it will never be for players.
I wouldn't say never, but there are NPCs in Cyrodiil. So many NPCs...
Awesome that we are seeing general interest in the collective voices of the testers and fans being taken so seriously.
Still would love to see some work on the group questing, phasing, and quest log interface on the main Ui.
That being said really awesome to see just how much work they are putting in to ensure the best finished product. Instead of just cruising to the finish line.
So still futile then - got it.
If added it is a step in the fight direction and yes, does indicate that they are listening. Doesn't totally fix the game, but it is the way to go.
Good news for us that already like PvE more so.
Well enjoy your day guys, bye.
if zenimax introduced a group of hireable NPC's from the merc camp that formed a shield wall in broken gates, THAT would be impressive.
I personally wouldn't be surprised if they changed their minds on player CD.
Collision detected should be restricted to enemies. Friendly players could still walk through eachother, it's just that they couldn't walk through enemies.
Definitely futile, but I've said from the start that most of this bickering on certain subjects is.
On the matter of the right direction, agreed and disagreed at the same time. I'm not overly impressed with CD, but it doesn't really bother me either.
And the thing about the gaming needing fixing is its subjective on what is and isn't broken, but you know that already.
Im thinking it was a mod that destroyed those patch notes!
I really dont think you should be allowed to skip the starter islands on your FIRST character, but alts should be able ot skip them if they want
This...
One of the chief features of AoC was its CD (one which caused them no end of delays). To me it is one of those features that if possible for PvP should be added; I am just not sure the technology is really there to make it happen though, for the same reasons true stealth is hard to accomplish - network latency. Even with AoC they eventually had some shortcuts that worked well enough for player CD in PvP.
As to why have CD - it allows for 300 like events, where a small group of players can hold off a larger group. Basically, it makes tanks feel more than teddy bears to be laughed at in PvP - a few tanks in front of the squishes makes things more interesting...
Now they just need to create siege shields (or the pavise) - large shields designed to cover the body with several linked together by their holders to form "shield walls"... One would hold the shield protecting those behind him, who could throw out dps while peeking around the shield.
Damn guys, can't you wait until I wake up to purge all the patch notes? I can't stay glued to my computer 24/7 to catch everything
Other sites gave me the general idea of what the patch entails. Interesting stuff.
The only thing I have to add is this is the exact reason why I don't get too involved in the theory-crafting part of the game just yet. It is very much still in beta and some core elements can be completely different come release.
I still don't get the worry over CD. Warhammer was amazing with CD. When enemies were around in pvp areas, CD would kick in and you could make shield walls, block doors, etc. It was so fun to hold off 20 people with 2 tanks and ranged dps/healers behind them. It actually felt like a real battle. For the enemy ranged dps to get into range of our ranged dps they'd have to deal with the tanks, and the tanks would boot them away, stun, etc. So fun. The zerg - let's all stack up on the door and go out together and mob them - just isn't nearly as enjoyable.
