Take a look. Very interesting patch notes.

Keep in mind that if you want to discuss moderator actions that you do it via PM. This is explained in the forum rules. I don't think anyone should be surprised if links to leaked information are removed, that's been standard practice since long before ESO was a twinkle in the eye.

You can start in the starting city of your faction by choice after the tutorial of Coldharbour. As i read the patch notes, i believe you can do it from first character created but i might be mistaken.

From what I read, you are taken to the starting city for you alliance, but you can then go back to the original starting areas..

Anyway, The patch notes just shows that the Dev's., are working on the game. not just features people want or dont want. If something isnt working as intended, they adjust it, test it and re-adjust it as needed and test again and again until they are happy with the results. The patch notes each time announced to the private beta testers may be for 100 or so fixes, adjustments or changes. There may be 250,000 other issues that didnt get fixed, added, or adjusted in that patch. Nor do we know how many patches are made between the public beta tests or how may fixes has been made.

Why do you think you re-download when they have the public closed beta? because so many changes took place.

I dont know about you guys, but the alpha for The War Z (now known as Infestation) failed because the game engineers did not listen to the community. With Zenthesda listening to what we want this game will destroy WoW and bring all the MMO players this way.
Buy the game, pay your subscription and we will get new content that will run for years to come. I glad to have a game that i can look forward to spending some time on. After Cataclysm in WoW and Infestation falling off... Cant wait to be a PC gamer again!

Now I do not know what has been said what has been leaked, but when I saw the words collision detection my eyes popped open with joy.

I would understand if they do not want to put it in PvP for performance reasons, but It is an EXCELLENT step to put in and hopefully fix that issue with swinging a weapon and not feeling its impact at all.

Regarding PvP, CD could be added as a class or sword and shield feature, where when toggled it would turn on CD for your personal character. This was a feature in Shadowbane where a tanky class had it, it came with the penalty of not being able to move and some other stuff, but in effect 10 of these guys could hold the line (the skills name was hold the line!) on a bridge while the healers would keep them alive and archers and spellcasters would decide the fate of the battle from distance.

Oh the joy..

GIEF CD TO TESO!

That's actually what I don't like about CD in PvP. Two people should not be able to prevent a much larger group from moving past them. They'd be knocked back or out of the way or down and trampled. As much as realism should not be applied to games all the time, in this case it absolutely should. Two characters specced to tank a lot of damage should not be able to block a door vs a large group.

CD in PvP only works if you can move enemies out of the way which I've never seen implemented.

What if you had CD as a skill for the tank class, but it would come with a serious penalty such as being rooted in place and being exposed to x y z? then those 2 ppl who block the door would be decimated with your dpsers but they would still be able to do their job (hold the line) if they had enough heal support making for some interesting mechanic..

hmm this sounds amazing and if thats accurate I am thinking that 1 player shouldnt be able to walk through another player and this would add a whole new level to gameplay both in PVE and PVP

I'd much rather there was some sort of "push" mechanic where you could literally push people out of the way or at least backwards or even knock them down and run over them like they were a corpse. Like I said I've never seen that in an MMO, and actually rarely see it in single player RPGs.

You never played Warhammer then. Moving people out of the way was a big part of tanks. enemy tanks would run up to the door you were blocking and use their punt skill, send you flying , then charge in and attack the squishies, tanking dps while their own dps got into position. It wasn't just 2 tanks blocking a large group.

Ooh no I never played Warhammer but something like that is what I want. Maybe not a "punt" and maybe not limited to only certain classes or builds but a way to move people standing there blocking the way without having to kill them.

Even simple knockback effects from our skills can work. I don't remember which skills have knockback effects though.

The two guys would need some serious healer to back them up as they would easy take enough dps to scare an raidboss.

And you have pushbacks and all sort of cc.

The problem with CD is that it can be abused by players.

Two tanks, rooted (as suggested) should not be able to hold back equal or greater forces. CD not only blocks entrances to keeps and such, but also to dungeons, rez points, and even mobs and mob bosses. And lets not forget about quest objectives being blocked.

CD sounds good but its so exploitable and should not be used in a mmo game. Its also why you dont see it in to many mmo's anymore.

If NPC collision includes all mobs in PVE content then yes that is a wonderful thing.I really hope that's how it turns out.I don't think they will turn it on in PVP for reasons already stated which is fine by me.

Exactly.

None of this stuff is set in stone. How much do you want to bet if they remove any of these features people are talking about people will complain ZOS lied to them?

Yeah but if .... people posted and gave feedback that they want collision then the developers add collision - doesn't that make it not futile to post about it?

I can't even count the number of times condescending posters told critics to shut up and go away because they didn't know what they are talking about because collision is a no-no in MMO land.

More like they didn't want collision and so didn't want the developers seeing posts asking for it. I'm saving any I told you so though to see how it turns out. Gotta see it in action.

Yeah any mechanic can be exploited. Are you saying that everyone being a ghost is not also exploitable?

They specifically said no collision in pvp. It was collision or large scale battles. They picked large scale battles.

Collision in pve is nothing new. Not the first game to have it. Wint be the last either.

Don't worry, this won't happen because 2 ppl in ESO will get absolutely massacred by a larger group. The Zerg would only be slightly delayed by having to kill the few players blocking the way before going through the gate. Now 10 ppl may effectively stop a group of 20. But that's where it becomes about strategy and coordination. It will be hard for 10 ppl who aren't in a group to effectively block a doorway.

Let's not forget that there are also many abilities which cause knock backs or knock downs. So the moment that awesome line is broken by one or two players being knocked down, the Zerg will still swarm through those small openings.
