NDA has been lifted for a little while now, so there is no fear of getting in trouble.

Edit: Wow, I have never seen a game developer react so quickly and fix the things they are criticized about! Collision detection with NPCs and you can now skip the starter island? I'm impressed ZOS!

Maybe player collision isn't far behind? If they can do it with NPCs, why not other players? Just hopefully enemy players and not friendly players, kind of what Team Fortress 2 does.

The NDA has been lifted for the weekend tests, not the PTS.

Collision detection:

Nice. I hoped this would come in. Now the chat-bubbles (optional for peeps who don't want it) and im happy

That way a tank class can stop enemies from rushing through to other players.

Optional starter islands:

Maybe if i have made a load of alts. So far i have seen all three in the beta and to be honest i liked it. Although most people preferred the Aldmeri dominion one (from the ones i heard it of) I really really liked the Daggerfall Covenant starter island. And i can't wait to do it again on release.

If they are skippable, people would miss the sky shards over there. And since they did not active the shrines of they skipped, will they be able to fast travel there?

If the tutorial is skippable when you escape Dark harbour or whatever it is called you would also miss one skyshard. And no way you can teleport back there. So i guess they will bump you to lvl 5 with the skyshards you missed.

Edit: oh still under NDA? Thank the Divines all i did was reply and give my opinion.

CD doesn't mean the enemies will be programmed with phalanx playstyle AIs.

All this means is you'll get shoved aside like you're not there. Welcome to CD in a game not designed with it in mind.

You do notice they got it from the leak on reddit? And this is closed until I can do the edits, since people quote stuff they shouldn't.

It is still under the nda.

Player collision would svck unless you could knock people down to get past them. Makes no sense for a tank build to stand there blocking an entire group or more when really he would be knocked down and trampled.

Discuss if you want, but no links to information, please. Unless it comes from an official source that is not a leak.

Player collision has indeed caused issues in some games in the past, but it would be great if collision only applied to hostile players. That way you can hold a line in Cyrodiil, but you can't gather a group to block access to the bank.

This is why these patch notes aren't supposed to be spread beyond the group testing them specifically on the PTS. Because this change is still up in the air and isn't permanent or set in stone and they want feedback on it. This might never have made it to the next weekend test and is subject to change.

Isn't it NPC only CD? There is still no CD for the players.

ZOS is just testing out a new ideas -- that it is still in beta and under NDA.

yup, so true There isn't any real need to talk about that. ZOS asked others testers in the PTS for feedback, not the general public. This just a theory testing bed anyways, not written in stone.

Woot, green light! Link deleted, discussion resumed

Yeah I'm ok with being able to bypass the starter islands so long as you can go back to get the skyshards and achievements. I don't mind them, but after rolling a few alts, they would get a bit tedious. And hopefully nobody gets insta-bumbed up in level when they opt to do this.

I like them fixing collision detection. It makes it feel more realistic, even though this will cause problems in congested areas. I always thought it was a bit corny that a zerg of 32 people could just run right through another group of 32 people on their way to objectives in Cyrodiil.

And fixing line of sight issues may help address how certain mods still target people when they are behind walls.

I'm impressed. They seem to be on the ball with major issues. Even if they are in testing, its nice to see they are working on it.

For the moment it's NPC only yes. I read somewhere that they had already tried it in PvP at some point, but thought it was too easy to hold bottlenecks. Maybe that was before they added additional points to breach the keep wall. Holding the line at bottlenecks is something that should be possible, imo...

About skipping the starter islands: Will it affect quests and/or quest lines later on when we are higher level? There are quests in the starter islands that imply our decisions have drastic effects, possibly even determining our standing with certain races.

For anyone that's played Daggerfall Covenant (and I assume the other factions have something similar. DO NOT READ IF YOU DON'T WANT SPOILERS):

Spoiler
At the end of the Betnikh quests, our decision whether to keep the ayleid relic or banish it is supposedly a very important one. Our choice determines which NPCs we recruited in Stros M'kai follow us and the NPCs strongly imply it can affect our standing with the races, not to mention the fact that if we decide to keep it we are technically running around Daggerfall, Glenumbra, Cyrodiil etc. with a very powerful relic.

Do the starting island quests have no effect on anything after we leave them? Do our choices in their quests not eventually open new quest lines later on depending on what choices we make? If so then everything about the starting islands is a meaningless waste of time and I'll gladly skip them (aside from getting the skyshards).

If not though, it will be worth playing through them.

The quests imply that our actions and decisions are of great importance and it would be a shame if that were not so.

I LOVE the fact that we will get player collision with NPCs. I felt combat was too floaty and this will go a LONG ways to fixing that issue. I hope they improve the sound effects and visuals for combat a little bit more in the future.

Dark Fissures (smaller Dark Anchors) sound like fun. I assume its another type of dynamic event that you can find while questing. I hope that there are LOTS AND LOTS of Dark Fissures.

The final thing that I liked is the exclusion of the starter islands. Those svcked. I will still go there to get the Skyshards but I will leave right after.

In the alpha stage of testing a few years back, a dev said that tried CD in PVP, with that turn on, they could not get 200+ people on screen as their goals said to do. So they drop it for that reason.
