Taking away the doors in Freeside?

Post » Tue Dec 29, 2009 12:33 pm

Any mods for this? I would like all doors/barriers taken out of Freeside and the strip BUT the door seperating freeside from the strip must remain.

Ah, you mean the piled up cars and stuff? I've been looking around Freeside for location scouting for a mod I'm planning, and the barriers are there for a reason. There's virtually nothing behind them, they are there to make Freeside seem larger without it actually being that large, Freeside was designed to seem cramped and mazelike according to the Vault wiki, but it's still part of a fairly big city. Removing the barriers would force you to add new content where there is now nothing, and it really doesn't seem like it's worth the trouble, not to me personally at least.

Have a look in the GECK or simply use the TCL console command to fly over them and you'll see why the barriers are there.

Thats why you combine worldspaces. Freeside is made up of 3 areas, just like the strip. Though the task itself is still difficult. I would do it myself if I had any idea where to begin.

It's not really that difficult, just very time consuming. Time consuming enough for me to not even consider doing it.

Yeah, hrm. I didnt think it would be that hard cause I figured it was just taking away the barriers that seperate the areas of freeside and thats it. Ive never made a mod though so im sure theres a lot more to it.

its not just like taking away a barrier or like removing a wall , remember the game loads when you go to another part of freeside its a different worldspace.

Try my mod here.

It moves a lot of the markers that place you outside another load, reducing your travel time. It also adds some markers in places that should have had them to begin with.

You COULD remove the walls on the strip, but Freeside is in a completely different cell from the main world space, and separate from the Strip's mini-world space. I don't have the patience to go and re-create the Open Cities mod. I'll let the guy who made the first one handle that :P
