Taking charge of your wasteland!

I had had a thought regarding Fallout New Vegas. In Fallout 3 I became emotionally invested in the well being of some of the characters, the merchants and some of the open cities in particular. I always had to take a Karma hit to sneak in better weapons and armor for people I wanted better defended. Do you all think that it would break the game at all to allow your character to give armor and weapons to types of pc's(be the named, guards, so on) or even all as well as (Repair Skill permitting) settomg up turrets at locations and on routes, and maybe even hiring and equipping guards who's location you can designate? I remember in Fallout 3 I would have a massive armory filled with armors, weapons, and supplies in my locker next to my work bench simply because I didn't need the money. What if you could arm guards, or your faction to smooth the gears of the wasteland? Or if you wanted to go a negative karma route, what if you wanted to arm raiders to make runs for you. Imagine watching a patrol you equipped walk a route you designate. It would be a tangible effect on the world you could see! What are your thoughts on this? Is it something that would be worth doing (or making official as some of us do part of it anyway) or would it be something that simply couldn't be executed properly in your opinions?

That is kind of the idea tho... equip your guys you want to live so they stay alive better, or at least that is the initial core of the idea from which the rest blossomed. Obsidian has a great history of working right up to the last moment and getting as much quality game in as possible. I think they could do it.

im not talkin about the awesome guys like old lucas simms the sheriff, they could handle themselves :P (well, sept for burke)
but i mean random people, kinda like the robot that greets everyone entering megatron, loooots of people liked em, even though at one point, he usually ends up getting chomped on by an ant ._.

There is a topic for your ideas, although it is probably too late for the game now.
