Taking On Modelling & Texturing

Post » Tue Oct 19, 2010 9:34 am

Hi there, after much time, I've decided that I'd like to take on texturing and modelling. What I'd need is clear tutorials!

Please provide links to others or your own, to get me started. In the future I hope to produce new tilesets but first, simply weapons & armor

Thanks in advance!

There are quite a few texturing and modelling tutorials there. I started by reading all those way back. These already assume you know a bit about this stuff in general. For more basic tutorials on how to texture and do 3d work there are plenty of free tutorials out there. This type of work is hard and requires a lot of personal motivation and curiosity. Google is essential.

I hope I'm not hijacking the thread, but I was wondering how you added individual faces to a pre-existing UV map. I cut some parts off of a mesh and ended up having to create new faces to cover up the wounds, as it were. Those new faces don't appear on the UV map. How do I get them in there?

If the new faces are of the same material as the existing, then they will be on the same map, and included in the same node of the nif. My guess is they were added as a separate material id. Best place to check would be in NifSkope. Click on one of the new faces and see what portion of the mesh is highlighted.
