Taking it nice and slow.

Post » Thu Aug 11, 2011 9:38 am

I think what i'm going to do when I get into the game world is... take things nice and slow. No rushing out into the mountains and trying to marathon run across country this time.

Morrowing: First thing I did was run off into the wilderness. I died almost immediately.

Oblivion: Also ran across country. This was a cake walk though compared to Morrowind.

Skyrim: I've learned my lesson. I'm going to savor everything and go as slowly as possible. I want there to still be this sense of wonder as I play the game later instead of spoiling everything on the first day because I just have to see everything or at least as much as possible. I don't think i'll touch the main quest for awhile either.

How will you guys play?

I tend not too rush if I'm not rushed. I'll probably get my character in town, find her a non prison clothing and get her a job as an alchemist to begin with :)

I think I'll head to the woods or to the nearest town and observe the enviorment, see the little critters run around and the villagers living their lives

generally following the main quest areas is a good way to go about the game a good pace, at least that's how new vegas worked.

Funny how there were easy raiders and baby rad scorpions around the south, and a whole strip of death claw dwellings along the north to stop new players from exploring.

I haven't beaten New Vegas yet, with 300 hours of play time. Rushing makes me feel like I wasted the money I spend on games.

I'm going to run into the first cave I see and swing a polearm at everything until their heads explode, take their crap and sell everything that I don't want.

As always.

What I usually do in RPGs is during the first few cities/villages I stay in the one that I like the most and learn the ins and outs of the game there. I build my character up for a while and help out the NPCs that I end up liking before I go out to explore most of the world.

I'll do the MQ to the point where dragons can spawn, then enjoy everything else with a chance of dragon attack. :P

It's the first thing I'll do...first head to the Guardian stones to activate the Warrior' one, maybe see Riverwood a bit, then lose myself for a few levels.

It's also a tradition I have in TES games. I like having a bit of advantage (reaching lvl 10 or so) before beginning any actual quest.

The first thing I'll do is look for the highest place I can see in the immediate area and climb on top of it so I can get a good look at the place, then head for civilization.

What i'm hoping to do is settle down first in some town or village. I'll do some local quest maybe and just kinda get cosy for a bit. Explore the local countryside some but nothing too adventurous.

I know it might sound kinda lame but for me there's something about getting familiar with one spot. It's like having a home to come back to.

I'll first take my Dunmer assassin into the nearby town and get a change of clothes. Then get settled in town, talking to to the townfolk, to possibly find my first victim :ninja: . If no one peaks my blade's interest, then I will gather supplies and venture out into the wilderness.

I always take it nice and slow.

From the beginning, I look at every nook and cranny of the environment, talk to any person that I see, test any object that I reach, try any action that I find that I can do, look at the actions of any NPC that I see, but almost always as a sentinel, or in sneaking more, to avoid unnecessary attraction of enemies.

Then I gradually revert to my nomad life, and start wandering around, but as always, cautiously and intensely watching around, and taking in the beauty of environment, and listening to the nearby sounds.

It has always paid off, and I'm usually ready for the next encounters.

I don't think it's lame. Eventually my char will also settle down in some place of his choice, but first I'll visit them all and then choose the one I liked the most. I don't like to have a house in the 1st village I find, then having to move to another because I like it better, thus abandoning the 1st one. It just feels bad I think.

Find a few weapons, then start the main quest. I wont get too far involved in the main quest though, I want it to last. Then I will go exploring for side quests.

Morrowind

stupid, thought they wanted me ball and chain in Seyda neen or I was on some kind of Paroll, was given orders by Socius, I said FU and ran into the water to swim away, didn't know it was crawling with slaughterfish = death

ok I said, I learned my lesson I won't run, no wonder they left me hear, went around collecting stuff, realized I wasnt a prisoner anymore, jumped in glee and walked off into the swamp, got owned by a Kwama forager -_-

Oblivion

Skyrim

Hopefully find a nice bandit camp in a forested area near Riverwood. Stay there for awhile, go into town everyday, exploring the wilderness around. Practice my alchemy before setting off to Whiterun to make a name for myself.
