Taking suggestions for assassin-like armors/weapons

Post » Mon Nov 01, 2010 4:36 am

I am taking suggestions on assassin-like armors/weapons for the [WIP] Stealth Wars mod I am currently working on. I'd prefer that the armor suggestions are of other colors than black. I've got 4 or 5 black colored sets already and I am in need of a variety in color and style. Armors will mostly be for males but there are also a couple of females.

I'm also taking suggestions on weapons, mainly bladed: one handed, two handed, offhand, and daggers. I'd like to get a few with some sort of magical effect on the blade such as Jojjo's Frostmourne, but not necessarily flames only.

Thanks for the ideas.

Hmm, well, I've been playing Monster Hunter Tri since it came out last week, and I think that (a less cartoony version of) http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20100106091538/monsterhunter/images/thumb/6/69/Guild-Blade.png/200px-Guild-Blade.png would be pretty sweet if adapted a bit for a bard-style assassin. Also, this picture is way too small, but I really like http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20090822132123/monsterhunter/images/thumb/8/8c/Agunatachi.png/100px-Agunatachi.png, and would like to see it in Oblivion... also, I've been hoping for a while someone would implement a http://wiki.guildwars.com/images/thumb/1/1f/Ranger_Norn_armor_m.jpg/308px-Ranger_Norn_armor_m.jpg for an archer/assassin type (in any colour).

Anyway, I realize non of these are slinky ninja-style assassin outfits, but it sounded like you were asking for somewhat different armours, so here you go :P Best of luck to you, whatever you wind up making!

Actually those are just what I'm looking for. They still retain the ninja-y like look. But, I'm looking to just include armor/weapon mods already made. However, that last armor would be sweet if someone wanted to take that up.

I'm playing MHtri too btw! :D I've been splitting my free time b/t that and my modding. I haven't went online yet though, and I'm just now getting into the 1 stars. LOL. I'm slow.

Oooh, I gotcha, I totally read that as you looking to model new suits :P Hmm, well, sadly I can't really think of any great non-black suits with the exception of the True Ayleid armor (which is already it's own questline) and DMAC's different sets (which are all somewhat identical and, while amazing, very generic in the whole cloak-and-dagger design). If you do wind up deciding to throw in another black/grey suit, I'd like to see http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=15562 used sometime, but don't know about getting permissions for it :/

Nice! Yeah, I'm not gonna lie, I dropped pretty much everything but eat, sleep, and school for Tri when I got it, it's pretty sweet when you get to high tiers of quests (especially online)

I was planning on using that grey/black suit for an argonian. That tail armor is just too sweet to pass up! What is DMAC's sets?

I love the Tri game a lot already. The gigantic great sword is awesome! And I'm a big fan of overly sized swords. I'm also a monster fan. So the GS + monsters = pure cake and icing!!! The two things missing from the game though is weapon switching and dual wielding. Add those two in and I could have my pie as well. LOL!

These two mods (although they've been renamed since I last visited them, so searching DMAC probably wasn't very fruitful); [src="http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=OblivionMods.Detail&id=2182"]Ranger + Light Daedric Armour[/url] and [src="http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=OblivionMods.Detail&id=2110"]Hashshashin Armours[/url] (while the latter is based on Assassin's Creed to an extent, I really love the red suit :P).

Hah, yeah, big swords are nice, and weapon swapping would be :P That said I've been using hammers, so what do I know? :)

Well PM me sometime and when I eventually get to online play, I'll look you up and maybe we can hunt together. It'll be awhile though. I'm still on single * quests.....

Oh, and I was going to use those armors too, haha. Great minds think alike, right? :foodndrink:

Wow, yeah, I guess so :P

Fine then, let me try again (I'm getting desperate now <_<)

There's a couple (potentially) good suits from Vvardenfell Imports and it's addon, specifically;
http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/images/28245-4-1258816706.jpg
http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/images/28246-1-1259020628.jpg

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/images/28246-2-1258412087.jpg

Also check out http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=11265 and http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=11464
Pack 01 only has female suits (unfortunately, because I want there to be a male version of http://tesnexus.com/downloads/images/11265-3-1269741118.jpg), but pack 02 includes male and female versions of (I believe) every suit (and http://tesnexus.com/downloads/images/11464-2-1269798014.jpg looks like it'd be pretty sweet).

Third times the charm? Fingers crossed :P

already got those in mind :P

I think I've got my armors and weapons picked out now. Just got to sort through them now. The weapon list is quite hefty, so I've got to do a lot of eliminating on it.

You know those assassins who assassinate in the dark, at the dead of night? What losers! they don't have the guts to go out in broad daylight, assassinate someone, and get away with it without ever being seen :ninja:

Black armor? In broad daylight, when every coble stone road is reflecting bight white lights, your black getup is going to make you stand out and be suspicious! What is really needed, is camo, and underarmor. Underarmor? yes. To blend in naturally to kill in the day,you wouldn't wear strange suits! You'd need to wear a commoners clothing, but what if you are caught with such little defense? It's sure to mean your death! So you need something thin, but protective to hide beneath your clothing.

What about in the lonely forest, an Imperial ranger is doing some hunting - just a normal day. He doesn't even know you stand croutched behind the tree infront of him because you blend right in.
You need http://www.ghilliegear.com/images/Special-Ops-Paintball-Hunter-Suit-Mossy.jpg, http://www.camoshop.com.au/_images/camouflage_uniforms.jpg, and less of this anime fantasy armor and more of the armor you need to kill someone with.

There are more colours to assassinating than just black.

EDIT:
Oh and those shiny, flashy pretty weapons will not do. If the sun catches the reflective surface before you can make your strike, it can mean the end of you. Those broad eleogant handles and blades won't do you any good by slow down your strike and make a mess of blood making it easier to track you down. you need http://www.mercworx.com/images/ProductImages/Knives/mwSniper.jpg http://www.lfchosting.com/digitalcanoe/knife/pictures/kabar/images/kabarshort.jpg http://www.thedaggersedge.com/images/Ontario.jpg that are durable and effective.

I think knives would be a must. A sneak attack with a knife should always be instant kill. Swords are mostly for slashing and deflecting and are not concealable. Knives can slit throats, fit between plates in armor, stab organs and all other things which happen when people are looking the other way. An assassin is a killer not an army. I have been playing a lot of Assassin's Creed 2 lately, and there is a reason why they prefer to stab their targets. If you want I can model a few killing tools for you.

wow corthian , I'm honored that you offered, but I'm okay with what I have so far in the weaponry department. I could use help with some armor though. Some of the selections I had made turned out bad, and I'm coming up a little short on that side of things. If you'd like to help with that, I can provide you with a picture of what I'd like to see.

As far as the advice goes, I completely agree with realism in fantasy, but at the same time still want it to be fantastical. The mod is going to be losely based on the aforementioned game I played online for a long time. These assassins, or stealthers, had the ability to wear heavy leather armor, which even sometimes took the appearance of heavy plate armor, and some could even wield heavy weaponry like 2handers. My own personal character had several long swords and wore heavy leather armor that had pauldrons. The ability to hide in this game basically made them invisible to everyone but other stealthers who could detect you if they got close enough or had a high skill in stealth.

Rest assure though, most of my assassins are going to have leather armor on. Only a few will have metal parts on them.

*Ahem [http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=11206].

Now that the semester's over, I've decided to get back into the modding game again (for better or worse). Still not done yet, but I`ve been rather busy over the last few days working on http://i40.tinypic.com/1z54x9k.jpg.

http://fc01.deviantart.net/fs71/i/2010/116/e/3/Artemis_Entreri_by_aditya777.jpg It's a pretty rough drawing to go off of as far as modding is concerned, it is pretty much bands of leather, dark grey, with some various metal pieces and a green cloak, I know It it's still blackish but I'd like to see a good adaptation.
I'd also like a dagger than Instant killed when it made a successful sneak attack, however it must not deal any useful ammount of damage outside of sneak attacking.
http://fc08.deviantart.net/fs26/f/2008/041/8/d/Kane_Swiftblade_by_BiGFooT_y2k.jpg would be pretty sweet too.
http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/FR_ART/People/ElaithCraulnober.jpg http://fc01.deviantart.net/fs49/f/2009/156/d/d/Fable_2__Reaver_by_LLucilla.jpg http://community.lionhead.com/photos/fable_2_fan-art/images/3061574/495x700.aspx http://cache.kotaku.com/assets/resources/2006/11/f2_artwork2_1024.jpg
Not really a stealthy thing, but a graceful fighter none the less.
Or you could just go with the simple brown leather armor and green cloak type thing.

But hey, the best of assassins just wear everyday clothes and kill with a flick of the wrist.

How about some kind of reinforced version of some vanilla clothing?

It seems to me that the last thing an assassin would want is for people to notice him/her, and let's face it. "Assassin" armour gives you away right away. That guy in black leather over there? You can bet he's in the Dark Brotherhood.

What I'd like to see is an ordinary outfit (one of the lower-class ones, as no-one takes much notice of beggars) with maybe some leather or chainmail placed over the vital organs, and covering the neck.
Some lightweight gloves and boots to go with it would be nice, and maybe something to obscure their face- a retexed Grey Cowl of Nocturnal maybe?

I've been looking for both a place and a reason to plug that as some proper Drizzt style armor is the one thing I've wanted to see in the game since the moment I bought it. Not to mention it would fit your criteria more or less perfectly.

I would imagine you would want to ask his permission before doing his armors though, if someone were to take them up.

Okay, I'm not going to lie, those (especially the mask below the large pictures) are beautiful... that said I believe Lonewolf_Kai has said he is not modelling armours, but rather including them from other mods, so as awesome as this (and most of the last few posts) is, it is (sadly) irrelevant :P

Well Corthian said he's be willing to model some armors so I figured now was as good a time as any to plug the aforementioned armor.
