Taking On The Bear

Post » Sun Aug 18, 2013 6:22 am

Has anyone been brave enough to take on that bear in the tutorial level? I have started many games and I have never once tried to fight it, I always sneak past. One of the reasons is I tend to leave animals alone unless they attack me first and if I'm using illusion I normally use that. And the other is that I'm too sacred to tackle it.

It's a toned down version of the bears you usually encounter in the wilderness. Take it on, it's not going to kill you. Keep in mind however, that the other ones will kill you

That's a good point. Had I walked up to a bear outside of the starter dungeon with this tactic it would have mauled me

If you're talking about the bear under Helgen Keep, it's been toned down to let you kill it, if you mess up with the stealth kill/sneaking around, or if you don't want to do it the rogue's way and go head on against it.

That's funny, I've never just sneaked past it. Ever. Not in any of the thousands of hours I've played.

That's what I would imagine. You're facing a weaker bear.

I have killed it several times. In straight melee combat, by sneaky stabbing with a dagger and once I killed it with a bow. It's easy one to bring down.

Very few. During Season Unending, he couldn't take on a single Whiterun Guard.

Never have I been so disappointed.

It's a tutorial bear, so it has low health. All the enemies stay low level or have low health until the tutorial part (mostly until Ustengrav) is over.
