Taking on the Master and his minions.

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 9:31 pm

I've annihilated the CoC, done pretty much everything except Military Base and Cathedral basemant, which I am going for now.

I am lv11 sniper, if I get a critical I hit usually from 70 to 150, my weapon is Sniper Rifle and Ian is with me (Dogmeat was :flamethrower: 'ed by mutants).

I got robes, but I don't think that works passing the Master's pets since Ian cannot wear Robe cloths. I'd really like to get past the guards since I always have tough time handling multiple opponents, and I think that would ruin the possibilities for a peaceful negotiation with Master (if it's possible)..

Do you think that I am ready to face the Master? And you got hints on how to get it easy as possible? I read that he has 500HP and huge laser guns so fighting is not an option, and I assume that it can be negotiated, since it's possible to complete the game without killing anyone. My great concern is my level; 11 seems bit low. Especially for Military base which I tried earlier, I got smoked by miniguns as soon as I entered the building. I also got annihilated in the Basemant, after which I came here.

My most important current stats and things:

STR 6
INT 9

Small Guns: 200%
Speech: Around 100%.

Brotherhood armor, and Tesla armor in case of Laser mutants. Hundreds of ammo for mah snipah, Ian has Deagle with 300 ammo. I own CoC robes.

One more thing: While fighting Deathclaws for the Boneyard quest, I needed lots of Stickpacks (the healing chem), and noticed that while walking around I kept getting messages like "Current Health Decreased by 6". Did I take too much healing or is this my ancient Radiation Drug addiction haunting me?

Thanks in advance!

If you're planning to fight your way into the base and then try to fight the master, then I think you may need to level up more. His minions are armed with the best weapons which can do a lot of damage. Not to mention the Master himself, even at higher levels he's really tough.

Although yes, it is perfectly possible to get into the base and defeat the Master through peaceful means. Even at low levels. :)

Considering though that you can get as high as Level 20+ in the game, you may not be realizing your full potential, so to speak. I'm sure there are a lot of areas you haven't explored yet.

As for the "Current Health Decreased by 6". Are you using Super Stimpacks? Those are supposedly "strong" chems. They heal a lot in one dose, but they do a little damage later.

I have never killed the Master in any of my games, the dialogue options I thought were much better.

Also note one of them requires you have a specific item to start the interaction.

And that might be..?

And does Ian affect the chances of peaceful negotiation? Do I have to get him killed?

Spoiler
A holodisk from Vree at the Brotherhood Of Steel (I think I got her name right its been a while) proving that Super Mutants are sterile)

You could always ask him to wait, you can sneak by the entire place in the robes if you do not have any party members with you.

Hmm, I do have a question regarding the master as well.

I'm a level 7 methinks, but I still have a whole bunch of unfinished quests to do. I went into the cathedral, and talked to morpheus who takes me to the master. I was actually surprised that I see him this fast, but I may have accidentally rushed it. Now when I talk to him, it seems that my only option is to fight the guy. Even with CH and IN at 10, and my Rhetorical skills around 130%, I tried every dialogue option to no avail. He does let me go after chosing one of them, but that only leaves me to fight five super mutants at once, something I cannot do at this level.

Am I missing something? Is this not the actual time I'm supposed to end the game? (similarly to being captured by mutants in Necropolis) Or do I just need to level up some more before I can persuade the Master to commit suicide and get the proper Fallout ending?

At Level 7, I think you're still missing out on a big chunk of the game. :) You can get more than 20+ levels.

Yeah, I think you accidentally rushed it. But it's an honest mistake, events like Morpheus and the mutants in Necropolis are sitting all around the game world waiting to be triggered. The game only assumes that you wouldn't reach these points until much later. But like I told Pistolero, it is quite possible to finish the game at very low levels. But if this is your first play-through, why would you want that? :)

Indeed, Ill just leave the master alone for now, and hopefully find a better way to reach him later on. I stopped doing the "main" quest after I reported the location of the mutant fort to the Brotherhood. I didn't do anything with the Brotherhood past that however, because I didn't want to trigger some sort of battle event, kill the master and finish the game so quickly since I want to take him out with the power of words. Naturally, the next place I went to was the cathedral to maybe find an alternative solution.

Ah well, I guess Ill just do some more side quests for now.

Hey I got this very odd problem when assaulting Military Base:

My sniper, when doing that aim shooting, it can barely hit anything no matter of the range. It just shows that eyes got --% chance to hit, and only feet have petty 08% hit chance. It's bright day. I just could shoot civilians from other side of map with 95% hit chance to eyes.

Sorry dude. Wouldn't know. Could be any number of factors. Does it happen with every target?

You sure nothing's blocking your shot? That's the most probable thing I could think of.

Infocom Style Clues. They get less cryptic as they go on leading to the answer, just show as many lines as you want.

Spoiler

The Master wants the mutants to replace humanity... Are you aware of anything that might stop that?

Who else knows alot about the mutants, maybe they know?

Not too many organisations exist that can do pure scientific study....

What about the Brotherhood, what do they know about the mutants?

Maybe one of them has had "Hands on" time with a mutant?

talk to Vree and get the Autopsy Holodisk.
