Interesting. Not sure if I'm hooked on it. As a frequenter of the TES General Discussion, I've always cast my vote to "return to partial dialog like morrowind" in the polls regarding voice acting in TESV. ;)

Doubtless our community will do much better than Bethesda's paucity of voice actors. :P

I'd offer to try recording some dialog... but I lack a microphone. Oh, wait, I actually have a voice recording device, it was to help me with recording classes/lectures in case I had troubles taking notes.

Problem is, I think my voice sounds really, really stupid. :embarrass:

Yeah I'm kind of in the same boat. That being said, you can make everything seems more dynamic by just having a camera zoom in on the person you're talking to. Even without sound.

The bug with camera zooming to the NPC's feet is already fixed - http://forum.fullrest.ru/index.php?act=attach&type=post&id=9028
And this fixes problems with distant land if there are any: http://forum.fullrest.ru/index.php?act=attach&type=post&id=9000

@Alaisiagae: I've never heard your voice, so I cannot say whether or not it is stupid. But either way, wouldn't that just add personality to the game? I bet your voice would do wonders in game, especially if an NPC is found that would fit your voice nicely.

Comodo picked up http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i201/Vality7/talkkyy.jpgwhile installing the program...

edit: Has anyone got this working on the english version yet? I couldn't get morrowind to load with this installed.

I was able to get it to run fine, no hitch what so ever. I only get a video loading error at the beginning, nothing else. the rest works. Doesn't help your cause but I have no idea why it wouldn't work for you.

You should just copy all video files from your Morrowind CD to your data/video folder. This fixes the problem. Also, you'll be able to run the game without CD.

Yes to fixing the problem, but it doesn't stop you from needing the CD.

Could someone who has gotten this to work perhaps post a little guide on how they accomplished it? I have tried over and over but it just doesn't seem to want to work. When I load all the modules I get an error about the wrong Morrowind.exe (I'm assuming this is because I don't have the Russian version of Morrowind), and when only the TalkyMorrowind module is loaded the game runs fine but there is no talking!

I tested the voices out in the TalkyMorrowind application, and the Russian voices are quite funny sounding when they try to speak English... but it does give the characters a "foreign" sound since Morrowind is a foreign place. I have everything loaded properly, as far as I can tell, but I must be doing something wrong if it's working for others and not for me. Any help would be greatly appreciated! : )

Initialing Progress reading...

... 50%? 100%?.
Time until completion still a mystery. . . .

//

Questions embarked while loading.

I. How to install mod in workable conditions?
II. When will the complete mod see the daylight?
III. How to customize the voices so everyone don't sound like drunk Russian mafia?

-Thanks for unintended attention. -

I. Well, Vicshann has updated the program a day or two ago, so, try a newest version of the installer.
II. We are working on russian version of the mod - the reason is that most of us have only russian versions of the game itself. So, for english-speaking users now you can use only digitally synthesized voices by special TTS (text-to-speech) technology. However we will be glad to help anyone going to make an english version.
III. For customizing english voices you should use english TTS such as Microsoft Mary, Mark, Sam, produced by Microsoft or any other. There are either freeware or shareware TTS.
P.S. Not all russians are drunkards and members of mafia. Actually, the minority of them are, not more then in any other nation. And it is nothing more than prejudice.

Naturally! The TTS is supposed to be used by the program for speaking any text which is not supplied with the audio file. E.g. I use 2 TR maps and all the dialogs are pronounced by TTS. By the way, there are still no complete russian version of TR maps, so it is really funny to listen how russian-speaking TTS does his best trying to pronounce the unknown sounds.

:)

I've found quite an interest in this awemode, and with that in mind I planing on releasing a English version. Sadly, without any
happy, dandy actors nearby the voices are going to be synthetic but, considering I got every professional computer-voices
that is available to this day so I hope it will work out decently. And since I merely can use one voice / race.,it's not going to be an mind-boggling experience,
but if we just could put over head to together and talk into the microphone for 5minutes in our life. Then it could be a better experience
for all of us.

Myself, I love to know how some of your guys are sounding, what better way then to let a Morrowind character
provide that information? Just a idea laying around in the blue lagoon.

Oh, I'm not sure I understand what do you mean under the "english version". The program itself already has english language, and the only chance to make an english version is to find voice actors. By the way, it is not so easy - there are still a great number of vacancies in our project and those people who were enthusiastic enough to send the examples of their voice appeared to be just don't suitable for it - they simply don't speak their native language! The number of phonetic mistakes are striking. And, after all, it is necessary not only to pronounce words and phrases correctly, but act them. It is not so easy to find a good intonation for each phrase an to find a person understanding it...

I Beg your pardon. What I meant is that I'm doing a customized or rather you can say, "automatic English version", in the waiting for real voice actors to come along, come on! :D.

But instead of using ms sam, mary and the Microsoft original voices I've used the latest additions to the TTS technology. And after setting it up I rather satisfied with the result of my first example. Link to it can be find below.

There is just one thing stopping me. Your program is great rhymer but would there be any chance to adjust the "TalkyMorrowind" section, so
you can adapt one specific voice file for each individual race, and also gender if that is possible. Pitching is good, but you can do so much more nowadays. I would love to have that sort of program in my hands.

Anyhow, here's a audio file on how the result turned out. http://vermin.atbhost.net/www/misc/MW_speech1.mp3
PS: Don't stop listen after 3seconds.. or you miss out!

I bet anyone.. and I mean anyone can put up their will & mind to say a few sentences so it sounds decent, understandable and a bit entertaining. Didn't we all do school-plays when we were children? It might not be a as good as in a million dollar Hollywood movie addition. But give someone a mic, a script and after in a few hours you will get acceptable material. If its also sounds kind of crappy I don't give a sh*t. Cause I love to hear what the people on this forums sounds like, specially Fliggerty. Both also everyone here, we all got something unique when we were born, our voice, couldn't this be the time to show it of here. ;) --
My believes anyways.

Cheerio!
