Tamriel or Akavir

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 10:27 am

Well I always liked the mystery of Akavir, and Bethesda shouldn't just go there until there is a little bit more information.

Besides... we haven't even finished Tamriel yet, the few people who want Akavir will have to learn to become VERY patient.

Personally, I really want to see Argonia (Black Marsh). I've really become interested in Argonian culture and lore, and all the tribes etc. Would be really interesting to see in my opinion.

Tamriel, I guess.

I think Akavir should remain mysterious.

I was thinking the same thing. We've at least got to see Black Marsh before moving onto another continent, but I really feel the TES series should stay on Tamriel.

There are a lot of MMO rumors floating around, how about the MMO take place in Akavir (if there really are plans of making one)?

Akavir doesn't actually have content to it. It's not a fleshed out setting because the point is to be unexplained. That's where it gets what little charm it has.

Keep it Tamriel please. Beth still needs to fix the damn lore after Oblivion so I'd rather not move to another whole continent.

This, or at least we can only have Tamriel's lore butchered instead of Akavir's lore too.

I don't want to derail the thread so this will be my last post about it..but I don't want an MMO either. There are a lot of rumors going around about one, but whether any of them are valid or not remains to be seen. If they are going to make one having an entire new continent would be the ideal setting for it.

I do hope TES V is on Tamriel though (and single player).

Back to the point, as most people said it has to be Tamriel, even though i would love to see some akaviri architecture and learn more about these people who we barely have any information about, they need to finish with Tamriel, too many things are happening for them to leave it now. (or could they? i can imagine it now, TES V takes place in Akavir, all info about Cyrodil has been cut-off for an entire Era, when you come back everything is peachy-keen and paradise seems to have come while you were away, the best part is there is no explanation to what happened as everybody who you meet seems to have forgotten what happened :), cue the flaming :flamethrower: )

Werelions, Sutch, Wererwolves, the Cults to Dibella, (All Oblivion) and, to a lesser extent, Ebonheart. (The last one is very debatable since Arena's Ebonheart is the old Ebonheart and Morrowind's Ebonheart is the new one)

Let's lay down a few points for all you Oblivion fans:
  • Not all Daedra are evil, nor do they all want to invade Tamriel. The Daedra are not a cliche'd "evil demonic race", like, say, the Burning Legion. All of you who want another Daedric invasion have been using too much Skooma.
  • Akavir is barely mentioned in past games, and then in Oblivion they hype it and you want to go there ASAP - its mystery is part of its beauty. Those who want to go there (at least within the next 2 games or so) have been using too much Skooma.
  • The Dwemer are not coming back. You haven't played Morrowind but you're hungry for them to come back, because it'd be cool, and you want guns. They aren't coming back, which is why they're so awesome, and those who say otherwise have been using too much Skooma.
  • Everybody who thinks Skyrim would be a boring location because you don't like snow is a fool, because Norway and similar locales throughout Earth are home to a wide variety of climates and ecosystems. Those who think it's just a barren tundra have been using too much Skooma.
  • Skooma was in Morrowind, and despite being way more "lawless" than Cyrodiil, Oblivion seems to have done the impossible and flanderized an inanimate object. All these funny intoxicated NPCs and smuggling dens are overdone, cliche'd and boring. There shouldn't be so much Skooma reference in TES V, and those who say otehrwise have been using too much Skooma.

/rage

Now if you'll excuse me, I must retreat to the safety of my underground bunker. It can only be penetrated by spears and crossbows. :ahhh:

Why did you address this to Oblivion fans? I agree with your first 3 points...however:

It's not that I think Skyrim would make a boring environment, per se...it's just that the Isles would be so much better (and Blackmarsh the best...damn the races with no disease resistance!).

What's wrong with referencing skooma...? It's not as if it's a major plot point, or anything.

Still, screw Norway. I say Bethesda should transplant the Nords entirely and take their real-world inspiration from the architecture and landscapes of the North Caucasus. Slavs and Chechens and Circassians oh my!

It would still be reminiscent of Scandinavia, but the mountains and costumes would kick so much more ass.

Seconded. And I want to see more Akaviri stuff in Tamriel, more swords, armor, maybe magic and other things to liven it up, or a cameo by an Akaviri (any reason there wouldn't still be some Tsaesci around?).

Why not have parts of Tamriel and Akavir both?

Because I only care about Tamriel.

Summerset Isles would be a nice place for the next game. It has the two main islands and the legendary Crystal Tower. There's also the mysterious Isle of Shadows.

Another place that certainly would be interesting is Blackmarsh.

Further exploring of the fate of the Orcs of Orsinium would also be interesting. That would take us back to the Iliac Bay area, the scene for Daggerfall.

The only reason I don't want the Summerset Isles is because of how much I hate the Altmer. The setting (Mediterranean?), lore, and landmarks are great. I just hate those damn elves! :swear:

i like the sound of akavir but i prefer tamriel. i would however absolutely love a expansion for tes5 to be based around the akaviri and the continent akavir but perhaps if tes5 truly is based in skyrim beth might introduce the continent of atmora instead because of the relation between the nords on the two different continents
