Tayroc, Solidor...those drawings were damn good.

ESPECIALLY Solidor's work. Do you have more? Post!

I have a sketch I'm working on... I'm debating inking/refining it before posting--scanners always [censored] up my sketches.

And in my opinion, the face is the easiest thing to draw. But that's because I can't draw bodies for the life of me anymore. Need to get back into practice.

poor leno, that Nord lady is absolutely adorable.

It's cool to see the other talents of the posters here. I hope the new art part of this forum catches on. :twirl:

I don't really mention this much, but I tend to draw the characters from the stories I'm writing. I like to think of it as an exercise in expression and scene... but it's mostly just for fun. So, I went through my sketchbooks over the last year or so, and came up with these drawings from Of Fate, Luck, and Ambition (which I haven't given up on; I'm just focusing on a different project right now!). They're messy and sketchy, but they're what I've got right now. I'm kind of a messy drawer.

http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a385/Black_Sparrow/oFLAforeshadowing.jpg. There's a "foreshadowing" pun to be had here somewhere.

http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a385/Black_Sparrow/oFLAwhyhellothere.jpg. Vira's sitting against a tree trunk, since it's really, really hard to tell. I'm terrible with backgrounds.

http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a385/Black_Sparrow/oFLAsshimindisguise.jpg

http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a385/Black_Sparrow/oFLAontheroadagain.jpg. I got Sam's nervousness around Vira down, but Vira's bemused expression just wasn't working. Also, I'm still terrible at backgrounds. And hands.

http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a385/Black_Sparrow/oFLAevilisboring.jpg He's in Mythic Dawn wear, which might explain why he's so bored. Lake Arrius Caverns is not exactly the highlight of entertainment.

Yeah, that's all I'm willing to show. Some of the other pics I turned up are a mess.

Now everyone else get posting.

Y'know for some reason your drawings of Sam appeal to my eye best of all...I dunno why. You seem to have captured his impish charm and vulnerbility quite well!

Sparrow!
Thanks sharing! That will help bring your thread even more alive. Have you ever considered including a drawing or two in your stories? (hint hint).

Your sketches are so full of life and character. You really have a gift for capturing personality.

Edit: Dirk, I think maybe ImmortalBlood's comment about the woman's back was referring to http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v289/Rumpleteasza/Lame%20Art/Shamsketchpartialcolour2.jpg one, not the one with the dress? Nice sketch, by the way :)

:hugs: Yay, its Rumple!

And no... I used to draw a loooong time ago, but fell out of practice. Now I channel my Elder Scrolls fandom into my screenshots, but of course there are already dedicated threads for that.

However, seeing all of the great pics here has inspired me to take a crack at it again. Who knows what could happen now? :D

He's my WIP for http://s190.photobucket.com/albums/z10/leecarey_2007/091022_200921-Copy.jpg, forgive the poor image quality, using my phone to take pics of my drawings really washes out alot of the detail and makes it look flat :/ I'm going to add detail to the belt next, then do the legs/tail/weapon and clean up the hands, i accidentally picked up a graphite stick and started shading his gauntlet, which is why its so dark, and I lost my eraser right before i started, so the whole thing was done without any clean up :P

Nice pics so far, I especially like Rumples Morgiah and Bsparrows When harry met sally When Vira met Demendrel :P

Clearly I need to get a sketchpad. I've been doing 3D for about the last 15 years but they take weeks to evolve. I got started with 3D because I wanted a quicky aid to my drawing. My plan was to use 3D boxes as a guide to the perspective. At that time I was using a mouse and DPaint on an Amiga1000. Somehow, the 3D took over. You can see some of those projects in my siggy link.

Anyone have recommendations for a good sketchpad?

Thanks. I'm glad to be a part of bringing art back to the art forum. I never knew it was missing! I have to say I love your drawings as well. You have an elegantly understated understanding of light and shadow, and they're simultaneously very lively.

Looking now at what I posted, mine look a little weird (I'd been drinking last night), but that's nothing drawing a bunch more can't fix. I'll be spending most of today in airport terminal hell, but once I get home tonight I'd love to do a few more.

If anybody has a character or something they'd like drawn, I'm down. Just bear in mind that I probably can't do any justice to Khajiits or Argonians.

Your drawings kind of look like Eddie, Iron Maiden's mascot, because they're so skinny and fleshy looking.

My characters are sort of gaunt and lanky. Maybe it is a subconscious psychological response to me being the fat kid back in middle school?

I hope this part of the forum catches on too, but I have to say I am really taken with yours in particular Sparrow. Sam especially looks so full of life and vigor. I can practically hear him chuckling in that Bruma Guard pic. Vira on the other hand, looks so sad, especially in that picture with Dar-Ma. Very nice job of conveying the character's emotions.

All discussion about whether drawings suggesting nudity are sixual is UNCONSTRUCTIVE and OFF TOPIC.

If I have to clean any more such discussions out of this thread, the members responsible will be suspended for so long that the moderators will not have to waste time policing up their disruptions in this thread again.

I just realized they are not called sketch pads but drawing tablets so let me rephrase my previous question.

Does anybody have any recommendations for a good drawing tablet?

Wacom is always a good choice.
I use the Wacom Intuos3 A4. I love it even if it is too big to bring along on a daily basis.

Yup- if you need a computer tablet, Wacom is a good choice. They come in a number of sizes and can be found in combo with Painter (used to be anyway). Mrs. Treydog uses one for her digital art.
