Tamriel Canvas

SO.
I don't have nearly as much art for Oblivion as I do for FO3 (I am reprehensible, I know), but here are two portraits I'ma working on at the moment. In color, no less. :0

http://fc04.deviantart.com/fs50/f/2009/291/a/d/Sovari_Milo__WIP_by_Iofiel.jpg is the half-sister of Mehra Milo, and a retainer of Great House Hlaalu.
She has lived in Vivec for nearly her entire life, moving in large part between the Temple Canton and that belonging to her patrons.

Ostensibly, she is an entertainer for visiting traders and emissaries from the other parts of Tamriel: crystal juggling, contortionism, and the various arts of conversation are her areas of expertise. As a result, she's much more openminded and knowledgeable of the world outside Vvardenfell -particularly in terms of culture and politics- than one might expect.
In reality, she is a mid-ranked member of the Morag Tong, generally reserved for intelligence gathering than actual murder- though her hands are far from clean.

http://fc08.deviantart.com/fs50/f/2009/296/4/1/Anatomy_of_a_Murderer_by_Iofiel.jpg

She's not had an easy time of it in dear old Cyrodiil, I'm afraid.
Her friends all seem to have an unfortunate tendency to die on her. >.>
And the Dark Brotherhood, alas, is hardly unaware of her presence.

(Technically, the first portrait is the more accurate in terms of coloration, and the one I like better- her hair isn't so much vibrantly red as it is the color of cherry wood.
Hope they meet with your approval. I should have more up eventually.)

Wow, these sare stunning! Digital art is great, but it's wonderful to see some traditional media. I love the sketchy style. Really beautiful.

I don't draw often, not TES things anyway, however I do take a lot of screenshots. I have managed to draw one of my characters, if anyone is interested.

poor leno, that Nord lady is absolutely adorable.

It's cool to see the other talents of the posters here. I hope the new art part of this forum catches on. :twirl:

I don't really mention this much, but I tend to draw the characters from the stories I'm writing. I like to think of it as an exercise in expression and scene... but it's mostly just for fun. So, I went through my sketchbooks over the last year or so, and came up with these drawings from Of Fate, Luck, and Ambition (which I haven't given up on; I'm just focusing on a different project right now!). They're messy and sketchy, but they're what I've got right now. I'm kind of a messy drawer.

http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a385/Black_Sparrow/oFLAforeshadowing.jpg. There's a "foreshadowing" pun to be had here somewhere.

http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a385/Black_Sparrow/oFLAwhyhellothere.jpg. Vira's sitting against a tree trunk, since it's really, really hard to tell. I'm terrible with backgrounds.

http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a385/Black_Sparrow/oFLAsshimindisguise.jpg

http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a385/Black_Sparrow/oFLAontheroadagain.jpg. I got Sam's nervousness around Vira down, but Vira's bemused expression just wasn't working. Also, I'm still terrible at backgrounds. And hands.

http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a385/Black_Sparrow/oFLAevilisboring.jpg He's in Mythic Dawn wear, which might explain why he's so bored. Lake Arrius Caverns is not exactly the highlight of entertainment.

Yeah, that's all I'm willing to show. Some of the other pics I turned up are a mess.

Now everyone else get posting.

I just started reading your story, and its awesome.

I like the one with Sam in the Guard disguise the best

here is one of mine from last year, http://www.majhost.com/gallery/ladynerevar/Portfolio/vehk.jpg, part of a triptych (Alma and Sotha didnt look very much like their game counterparts). and here is one of him ihttp://www.majhost.com/gallery/ladynerevar/Pics/img_9156.jpgs. done in watercolor pencils, colored pencils, ink, and acrylic.

and a few older ones: http://www.majhost.com/gallery/ladynerevar/Pics/al-eshedit.jpg, in guashe. sketch of a http://www.majhost.com/gallery/ladynerevar/Pics/dw2.jpg, pencil.

Heres one I created about 3 years ago but didn't get to put the finishing touches on until earlier this year;

http://img11.imageshack.us/img11/4619/tamagrade.jpg

It has all kinds of perspective errors amongs other imperfections. But i guess that just shows my naivety with Photoshop at the time.

It is quite good. I like the flash of purple light in her hair, and the blurred image of White Gold Tower in the distance.

do concept MAPS work? I made a quick sketch of what I think Akavir looks like: with roads, cities, capitals, and a rough scale.

I also made a sketch of what the Imperial city is SUPPOSED to be like: meaning 8 districts, and Rice fields. But it's just like a layout, not and detail.

I made a thread just like this too hastily so to make things easier i'll start using this one, and sorry to rumpleteaza for having the same idea :P

Here's what i posted in the other thread

Because i'm not all that good at drawing my characters in good/realistic poses, i will quite often find an image online or in a book that has the right pose and then re-draw it with my own style etc..

the following 3 images were such which i re-drew on Photoshop and made my own (tho credit still goes to whoever designed the original.)

everything you see in the images i painted on with my mouse, i left no trace of the original.

http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t244/klown-korpse/My%20Art/argonian2.jpg
http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t244/klown-korpse/My%20Art/Nord2.jpg
http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t244/klown-korpse/My%20Art/Orc2.jpg

I should also note, that my girlfriend is IMO an amazing artist, but her work is mainly in pencils on paper. I take her images sometimes (with her approval of course) and do the same thing as above.

just to give an example she drew one of my rp characters some of you might know called Dro'Zar and this is what she came up with

http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t244/klown-korpse/My%20Art/Dro-Zarclaws.jpg
Which i turned into...
http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t244/klown-korpse/My%20Art/DroZarBurnt.jpg

Lastly some of you might be wandering what MY hand drawn sketches look like, well these aren't my best by far but to give an impression of where i started with TES art here are 2 (imo) poor drawings by me.

http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t244/klown-korpse/My%20Art/DoKizaro.jpg http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t244/klown-korpse/My%20Art/Ghorukk-Sketch.jpg

and one of my much better sketches

http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t244/klown-korpse/My%20Art/whoa.jpg

i am looking forward to seeing everyones art

KK out

Eight districts? Wasn't it supposed to have a thousand islands? Like the dressing?

also i'd quite like to know what materials people use and where/how they start, it would help me when it comes to hand drawing :)

Well, I figured I might as well add my lot into this thread, since the forum doesn't have a lot of art compared to the writing. Drew and coloured these in OpenCanvas, with a Wacom Graphire4 tablet. I nearly always start with the head, and depending on how familiar I am with the subject, draw a very very rough skeleton as a base, or I just dive right into the image and sketch everything out, and polish/refine after.

Sort of old, but I still like them:
http://i595.photobucket.com/albums/tt36/yellowenergyseal/Art/2009/090224-ascendedsleeper.png - My friend said he thought he looked like he was dancing around, and imagined him raving with the rest of his Ash critter friends and the Dagoths. They're also one of my top favourite monsters in Morrowind.
http://i595.photobucket.com/albums/tt36/yellowenergyseal/Art/2009/090225-cliffracerkwark.png - They're annoying, enough said.
http://i595.photobucket.com/albums/tt36/yellowenergyseal/Art/2009/090316-MorrowindFlameAtronach.png - My most favourite Atronach, but I like the rest all the same.

I did draw a Winged Twilight, but it wouldn't be allowed here due to obvious reasons.

Nice stuff you guys! I'll have to stop by this thread now and then to see the new stuff. ^_^

Sadly, my drawing skills are limited to violent stick images, so nothing from me. :(

Started work on a new version of my avatar. This time inspired more by a piece of music i'm writing in adulation of the Elder Scrolls. And also to test out the new SSS skin shader in 3DS Max 2010. It's a work in progress. Cant think of what to put in the background yet...
