[RELz]Tamriel Rebuilt - Antediluvian Secrets #4

Post » Wed Sep 22, 2010 8:45 am

How?s the main quest for map 1 coming along btw? I remember vaguely that I read about it in the past and it sounded great. Forgot the name of the guy who was working on it. Or will you just release a main quest for all of the maps in the very end when they?re all released? I hope not, or at least make some smaller "main quests" for each map.

He disappeared, then we looked at his files and found them to be completely unworkable. Following this, the idea for the quest is being reworked, so we will pretty much be starting from scratch on that front. Know though that we won't take nearly as long this time. (mainly because we will ensure the person working on the quest finishes in a timely manner)

Another thing is that we are moving away from main quests based on the largely arbitrary map/release lines. The former map 1 main quest is being reworked as a quest line as part of House Telvanni. The closest things we will be having from here on are the quests for the great houses. While it doesn't sound nearly as impressive as a "Main Quest" keep in mind the size of the great houses on the mainland. These quests will span one fifth of the mainland each and will probably be as long as, or longer than the original plan for the map 1 main quest.

There are no current plans for a main quest spanning the entire province, but that is so far off it would be akin to... *looks around his room for similie inspiration*... you know I got nothing. Its really far off, so we aren't even concerned with deciding if we are going to have one yet.

I've always wanted to work on Tamriel Rebuilt, and, well, I hope to apply pretty soon actually, when I have a bit of free time opening up. I've modded for myself for years, since the game came out, but I've never really released anything. In addition, I do an awful lot of art and design, so I have a good feel for when things look "right", so to speak.

My current "big project" is a small Telvanni town (Think between the sizes of Tel Uvirith and Tel Aruhn) called Tel Indras (Which is just off the coast of Telvanni District on the mainland) for a character of mine. It's a weird fusion of architecture, as I'm mixing a Velothi dome style Tribunal temple with a traditional Telvanni mushroom tower plopped right on top of it, with Velothi style and pod-house style residences making up the very modest town of retainers. There's a very intentional juxtaposition between the fact that Ald Indras has its origins as a small Velothi town with a temple and minor pilgrimage site and the fact that a mage lord came in and grew his tower (Tel Indras) all over it. While this isn't a major project compared to what most people do, it's by far the largest thing I've made, and I like it because while it's ambitious (As I want it to be a high quality place of residence for my character, with some interesting dialogue and things) it's something that I could actually reasonably finish on my own. My goal and vision are, well, Bethesda scale and quality. Things look and feel weird in Morrowind when you go outside their "intended" scale of things. I figure once I've got something like that under my belt, and ensure it's of quality, that I'll be ready to work on your team.

I hope to be able to contribute and be a part of this sometime soon!

Oh well that?s bad. He seemed so excited about doing the quest in this interview, I wouldn?t have though that he would just disappear. Maybe the task had grown over his head. Good to hear that there are still plans made for "larger" quests. Because all the landmass is great, but quests fill it with life :).

I actually kind of like this plan of action better, personally, as I think it will flow a little better as to how the original game was (thus helping it blend in better as is the goal of the project).

There are no current plans for a main quest spanning the entire province, but that is so far off it would be akin to... *looks around his room for similie inspiration*... you know I got nothing. Its really far off, so we aren't even concerned with deciding if we are going to have one yet.

That is certainly sad news, though as you said, that is some ways off at this point - so a different decision may be made between now and then (nor does your statement imply a decision specifically being made, just that there are no plans at this time).

Either way, since I never say it to any modders enough anyways, awesome work with what you guys have all done - truly amazing. I can only hope my own projects live to the same quality standards many in this community have set.

It would be a decision in the first place, we literally have no plans. (not having one counts as a plan in my book) Basically we want to get more of the world done before we start thinking about a quest that spans its entirety.

Yeah we gotta do things in order... I mean if someone actually let slip to you guys that we were planning a province-wide "main quest" involving the liberation of Morrowind and uncovering some serious clues to the Disappearance of the Dwarves in the hidden depths of Kemel-Ze along the way, you'd probably all wet your pants.

They will as soon as they see the majority of new stuff in our next release (and just about every release after that, too). The Lan Orethan, Akamora or Necrom, anyone?

Assuming I'd like to help write or flesh out some quests... To whom should I apply?

I would go to their website http://www.tamriel-rebuilt.org, there is a section in the forums for showcasing your skills. Maybe make a mod with a quest in it. Look around in their forums, there might be more information.

Head over to the showcase section of our forums: http://tamriel-rebuilt.org/forum/index.php. Post work in the field you'd like to work in. If you'd like to do quests then send us a small quest demonstrating your skills. You will be graded though :D

Purple is the best, although we accept lavender, and reds every now and then. Pinks and oranges are right out.

Wow. Really hyped for the Sacred East! Is it true though, that a new game is required for it to work? What would happen to our older save games if we run the mod?
Forgive me if it's been asked before.

No, you can certainly use old/existing saved games. We only recommend that you start a new game, since you'll find a lack of challenge/engagement if you're playing with a level 40 character who has already beaten all three main quests. That's all.

It would be cool to see people come up with harder versions of the mod too, like morrowind advanced, but Tamriel Rebuilt Advanced instead :P

I myself always like a challenge in morrowind, and if i can complete a quest first time round i know its too easy :)

Im eagerly looking forward to this. However I do have a question on Necrom as in questing/factions. Are you guys going to integrate Necrom temple as its own faction, have it connected to the Vv temple faction or even possibly connecting it to Indoril quests once map 4 is up and running?

We don't know yet, but off the top of my head it's gonna just be the Temple faction, but the Mainland version; all the TR versions of the Vvardenfell guilds are bigger, "Mainland" versions. So your ranking in the Vvardenfell Temple faction will affect your starting rank on the Mainland faction, but other than being essentially the same group (just two different halves), that's about it for similarities or relation. We'll probably have some intermingling quests between the Indoril and the Temple, seeing as how those two factions are so close.

Okay, similar in the way that you did Telvannis, gotcha.
Btw thanks for the quick answer, you're a sweetie!
