Tamriel Rebuilt Help

Post » Sun Apr 11, 2010 11:04 pm

I recently installed Tamriel Rebuilt Map 1 and it is working fine, with one exception: Apparently the sound files it uses are missing. I don't know why it is saying this as there are two folders in the data files that have the very sound files the game is looking for. Is there any reason its not finding the files? Do I have to put them in a specific place within the data files directory?
Any help would be most appreciated. :)

Well, the first thing I would suggest is to get the updated version which includes an unquested Map 2 as well found http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=mods.detail&id=7040. Not sure if that is where your problem lies, in fact I doubt it.

I'm sure you understand why I'm not sure if its a good idea to get a whole new map when the first isn't even working properly.

Map 2 corrects a lot of issues with Map 1 (it comes with an updated version of Map 1), so it may correct some problems you are facing.

An important thing to remember with TR is that it is not on a final release (none of the Maps are), Map 1 is on its second BETA, and Map 2 is on its first BETA - so problems may well be encountered (though the updated Map 1 that comes with Map 2 should have very few issues).

Still not too sure about the sound files issues. Perhaps you need to register the TR BSA file in your INI file (though I am not too certain this would cause you an issue here).

I have registered the file and it is still not working. This is extremely odd. Thanks for your help though, I'm going to download map 2 tomorrow and see if that helps.

Not a problem at all, and in the downtime, perhaps someone a little more fluent with what might be going on here exactly will chime in - best of luck with it all, TR is certainly quality product to enjoy.

you should have a "TR" folder in the sounds folder and an "fx" and "r" in it. you might check that i just looked in my map one but getting the Map 2 would still be a good idea

did you make any changes to the datafiles sub folder organization, or did you just copy over our data files folder and merge it with your own?

I made quite a few changes, it solved my textures and animation problem. I'm going to try extracting the original sub folder organization and replacing what i currently have, and see if that helps.

Should i put the TrSounds folder in the MwSounds folder or do I just put it in data files?

C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Morrowind\Data Files\Sound\TR is my TR sound folder, and it has 2 subfolders.

Simply copying over the datafiles folder into the same directory as your datafiles folder (merging the two) is generally the preferred method of doing this right from the start.
