Ok than. I'm fine with that. I really can't wait to see what Tear will look like. :D

Tear is the Imperialised name. We tend to give famous locations more Dunmeri-sounding names. Representatives of the Empire in the mod will likely still refer to locations by their Imperialised names.

I believe we since decided to keep Tear. If it's good enough for Drulene Falen, it's good enough for our mod.

Here is the map with the Map borders and order of release:

I hadn't looked at that image for a while... quite a chunk of land that will be coming with Sacred East!

Haha not to be a contrarian or anything, but I really liked Tyr Dres  Or even just "Tyr"... it's probably the fact that I'm a linguist, but having a Dunmer placename in English puts it at odds with the tone of all other settlements in the game lol. (If we accept that English is a stand-in lingua franca representing Cyrodiilic speech, then it makes perfect sense if a city were called "Tyr" in Dunmeri that the Imperials would hear it as the word "tear" and name the city as such. And you could equally argue that Falen used that spelling because she was talking to an outlander.) Of course, it's a long way out and it's certainly not a big deal either way, but those are just my thoughts on the matter

I like Tyr as well. It keeps the Dunmer image with the whole mod. If you have some cities with Dunmer names and some with Imperial names, It kills the immersion for me. I could understand if it was called Tear by the foreigners but if a native called it Tear, I'd be so sad. Now, if the Imperials took it over like COMPLETELY, I could imagine them changing the spelling.

Tear is not an Imperial name, it's a Dunmer name. Natives in-game call it that; in probably one of the most evocative descriptions of the mainland given too (and actually the reason I got involved with TR). That's all that can be said!

Dres has nothing to do with the almost identical English word Dress, why is Tear any different?

More than that, it's a good name. Tyr reads like typical fantasy love of 'weird' letters, ys and ks and zs and apostrophes and the like.

Finally, further in-game dialogue already provides the alternative name of 'Dres' for Tear, so a third invented name is unnecessary.

In other news, Necrom is almost completed, and only a few misc quests are left before Sacred East is tested for release. Exciting times.

Oh, and just in case someone is not felt teased enough by Tamriel Rebuilt, I shall link to a blogpost, in my standardized non-serious writing style, displaying a small cave with a wall-mounted crossbow, that should theoretically be in the Sacred East release.

I always pronounced it as "Drez", not "dress".

hehe because "Dres" is a more-or-less phonetic way to transliterate the sound [d??s] using English/Roman characters. However, "Tear" uses a digraph in the middle that's specific to English orthography; if you wanted to transliterate the sound [ti?] using Roman letters, it would make more sense to use a single vowel glyph - either "i" or "y" - since [i] is an accepted value for those. You asked  /linguist

Seriously though, "Tear" is as good a name as any; I might not like it as much as "Tyr (Dres)", but I certainly don't think any less of TR for choosing to go with it. Just making sure you know that

Is anyone having any trouble connecting to the TR website? I seem to get some sort of database error every time I try. I'm not convinced it's on my side, as both my phone and my computer encounter the same error message.

Actually Mehrunes Dagon did it, we're just helping Almalexia rebuild it.

I thought Almalexia wasn't getting released for many years at least. Or am I interpreting "stuff to come" too optimistically?

We operate on valve time, but after Sacred East we pretty much have more stuff already done for Almalexia (IV) than we had for Sacred East (III) after releasing Antediluvian Secrets (II). We hope to gain momentum.

Also, we plan on reorganizing things to make claiming and completing quests much less imposing. We've been trying something similar to what is planned with the misc quests for SE, and it managed to get the 5 necrom misc quests done in about a week. All that remains for that claim is merging and testing. The other claim has its quests planned and half of them are claimed already.

OH Mamma, that's gorgeous!

If I may, how close are you guys to completing the city exterior? I remember seeing some sixy interior shots for some type of cathedral building; has that been salvaged, or is the entirety of Old Almalexia being thrown out?
