is tamriel rebuilt still active?

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 1:28 pm

well, i have the first two maps on my game, and i have been checking on things, and still dont see anything new released...

i checked my morrowind saves, and they havent been touched since 2009... thats depressing, all this time, and NOTHING new?!

i know its a big project, but since i hear that TR has been formed even before morrowind was released, now its 2011 and almost nothing is available to use...

im beginning to consider uninstalling my entire game, reinstalling it, and maybe installing some other mods, maybe even another total conversion mod to change the world for me to play on...

i saw "sword of the perithia" on planetelderscrolls or whatever the site is, but i read that it uses only morrowind, and excludes the expansions... which svcks.

meh... i dunno what to do anymore... i love the couple of pieces of morrowind's mainland we have, but without many quests and my most-wanted places to visit [necrom and the entire city of almalexia], theres not much to make me want to keep TR installed when theres plenty of other completed total conversions out there.

does anyone have any advice?

Yes, TR is still very hard at work.

They show new screenshots almost every few days.
There is a lot more done than has been released. It just isn't ready to be released for us to play.

Also, you can have more than one installation of Morrowind, so you can switch between playing TR and other large land mods at ease. Or, use Wrye Mash to switch Active mods pertaining to a specific Save file.

eh?

how the hell do you install morrowind more than once? how would that even work? how... uggh... my head hurts just trying to think about it!

theres no way i could do what you're saying without screwing EVERYTHING up...

wish i had someone who lived nearby who did that kind of stuff, then maybe i could have them do it for me... what a pain.

also, i dont look at the screenshots at TR... i really hate looking at things i know i wont be able to experience for another... god knows how many years.

I detect skepticism there Ratt. We will certainly have a release soon, we are just around the bend from potentially two releases. We are working at a speed unseen by TR in previous years while also improving on our overall product.

There's a sticked thread at the top of this forum that details how to run multiple MW installs... I have 8  ... One main one, a TR one, one for Arktwend, 4 for testing everything from MGE to texture replaces to other big mods and finally a totally vanilla one that I mainly use for building/testing my own mods.

I just rename folders so that whatever is in the "Morrowind" folder is what my desktop shortcut points to.

It's not that hard. The difficult part is remembering how each one is specifically configured!

Have fun
:)

We had a massive update detailing everything that had been achieved in 2010 on New Years Eve. How did you miss that?

A simple checking on our projects website would've told you we're more active than ever. Our quality is much higher than it used to be, with two maps completely remade (or at the least very, very little remains of the old stuff.) Also, our Sacred East is very near to being released, as is a quested Map 2.

Seriously, we don't aim to release stuff every year. TR is a hobby, and we aim for very high quality here, especially did in the last year. I can understand people are eager to see our new stuff, especially since we are showing screenshots every so often in the last time. I will try to hurry with my work for the next release, if it encourages you ;) Also, I can only second what they said before: Check our website or the thread in this forum.

Just as a side note, I have 6 MW folders. You can just copy and rename them and they still work fine.

One thing I have to say to the OP. Who do you think you are?
The decission to release or not release, work on TR or not to do it it's in the first place decission of TR's staff.
They do this as a hobby, and no one is in position to be exigent because of this: modding is a hobby and everyone who mods games do it because they love the game.
Think in all they have achieved instead of blaming them for not to release Necrom or whatever you're expecting them to do.

Check their page, check their blog, follow the news... You got very patient responses from them here.
You can do with your game whatever you want, they're dozens of mods out there.
TR people have all my respect and admiration for what they've done and for what they have given to all of us: their time and two magnificent and playable expansions.
If they release something more as it seems by their actual level of dedication, that will be a gift for the entire community.

You think it is depressing for you? We've been at work constantly and still haven't got something out. On the plus side, when we finally do make a release it will be many times better than anything we've previously released. Also lol at the dude who mentioned our blog. That thing broke in 2009 and we only just removed it. http://www.tamriel-rebuilt.org/forum and the http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1158775-tamriel-rebuilt-antediluvian-secrets-6/ in this forum are indeed the places to pester us. We are currently going full throttle towards a sacred east release, with an ever decreasing list of tasks being done. I doubt it will be too much longer before SE.

Also, I wouldn't fault the op for wondering why we haven't released anything. I do that myself regularly since the start of the new year.

Obviously, all what I said has beed misunderstood.

To Thrignar, I mentioned the blog as something good the TR team did. If it died, it's a bad thing.

To Wolli, I said what I said because I felt the Op had no respect for TR modders and I don't regret it.

Sword of the Perithia runs perfectly fine if you have the expansions installed.

Zimnel is in no way affiliated with TR fyi. Also, I always hated the blog and even when it worked we svcked at updating it.

Considering I'm an admin at TR and was commiserating with the op, maybe you should regret being so harsh.

Yes, feel free to ask in our http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1158775-tamriel-rebuilt-antediluvian-secrets-6/, it's the Antediluvian release thread, but we post stuff from our new areas all of the time. As of now we're currently aiming to release Sacred East "shortly", but we also have massive exteriors done covering areas almost the size of Vvardenfell (original MW), and much more to come. We had to redo a lot of stuff to bring it up to good standards, and it's looking gorgeous.

I really need to be less lazy about quoting posts. Everything after the first sentence was aimed at zimnel.

This thread probably could use to die now.
