Tamriel Worldspace Modding Project thread 3

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 5:56 pm

hey everybody...

just want to tell you that Valenwood and Elsweyr ( and probably Summerset) will not be "merged" into the complete tamriel map....we will keep this (as it is now) for different reasons...first of all a complete tamriel map including Valenwood and Elsweyr would not be compatible with Ilianas mod. Also the Valenwood Elsweyr map is so far the best developed file including full detailed regions new roads and last but not least with Star X Senchal we have a very promising project close to a playable version....
For the other provinces I will try to create one complete heightmap as well as esps for every single province containing region data etc

cheers

Good to know! I will soon be back on Senchal after doing some cleaning up in SVVR! :foodndrink:

The erosion test looks amazing, btw! :foodndrink:

Hey guys, just wanted to point out that my lore notes on the http://www.imperial-library.info/content/infernal-city-lore-notes#Elsweyr. Theres some additional information on Rimmen and Elsweyr in general which I didn't write out the first time.

Thought this will be a great source for all modders here too. E.g. the last sentence in the page: 'There is at least one volcanic crater in Hammerfell. p.257' ...

It looks like Onra put the "Under the Sign of the Dragon Heightmaps" page on "hidden" once again! So that only tells me that a major update is taking place once again! I can't wait to see what it turns out to be this time! I just hope it's more stable when it gets re-released (without any land tears, western Cyrodiil land tears and landscape glitches, and the flickering trees (especially when looking at Valenwood's blue trees from the Gold Road))!

I hope this also means that Onra is gonna finally also release the long awaited Morrowind and eastern Skyrim landscape heightmaps! I can't wait to finally be able to walk thru Vvardenfell again if that's the case! :)

wohoo

short progress news ...

as stated before Valenwood, Elsweyr and Summerset will not be changed or remade...all other provinces ( Hammerfell, High Rock, Skyrim, Morrowind

and Black Marsh) will be completely overhauled and finally go in one master heightmap ....

landmasses have been finished and I am currently improving the whole thing using Geo Control 2 ..

here two screenies I made during testing today, showing the new erosion and landscape filtering ....

cheers

Great job on those erosion passes. In my experience those kind of passes are a bit finicky to get right, but well worth it.

Bump!

-Had to do it!

Yes, according to Onra, she's still doing the latest version of her Tamriel Heightmaps! And according to what she told me thru a PM message on TesNexus, she's going to release it in one single file this time! She hasn't told me, though, when she'll release it exactly! So it looks like we'll have to wait til her link isn't on hidden mode anymore!

Off-topic, but I'm most confused by the number of people referring to Onra as "she" and "her" when Onra's Nexus forum profile has always listed Onra as "Male".

I'm just unsure, since I've been in contact with Onra for over a year and a half talking mods, and just assumed the Nexus profile is correct :)

hey @ all

short progress report....

I was able to create a complete heightmap ( NO REGION DATA ) of Tamriel, including all provinces isles and surrounding seas, This heightmap will come as one single file (esp) !!!

Most of the coastlines have been remade and nearly all of the new landmasses have been improved by using Geo Control 2 terrain editing programm ( erosion filter etc).

Currently I am adding the last details before I will start final testing....

as soon as the map is finished I will start to make it compatible with Elsweyr Anequina etc etc

have fun

If it's easier you don't need to worry about generating Skyrim at all, I've got regions that will do what you need.

thx everybody :foodndrink:

@ Seigfried

cool...the plan is to have one heightmap of complete tamriel as a masterfile and then create seperate plugins dependent on this master for every province...this way we can add all kind of stuff to the province esp's...like cities, roads, creatures etc etc and not region data and pathgrids only...
I am sure this will make things a lot easier to handle and as well more stable...
modders will be able to choose if they want to join forces and add their stuff to the province esp's directly or make their own mods using the tamriel heightmap and the province of their choice as a master...

I

cheers

Cool, that's how I thought it would work. If you just hook me up with a region esp with any data you feel is essential, I can do the rest I think... actually, how do you design your roads, is it all just by hand?
