Tamriel Worldspace Modding Project thread 3

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 6:11 pm

thx everybody :foodndrink:

@ Seigfried

cool...the plan is to have one heightmap of complete tamriel as a masterfile and then create seperate plugins dependent on this master for every province...this way we can add all kind of stuff to the province esp's...like cities, roads, creatures etc etc and not region data and pathgrids only...
I am sure this will make things a lot easier to handle and as well more stable...
modders will be able to choose if they want to join forces and add their stuff to the province esp's directly or make their own mods using the tamriel heightmap and the province of their choice as a master...

I

cheers

Awesome. With the entire heightmap in one esm it'll be easy for modders to just add their own master dependant esps

Now to think of all the work that Onra is doing (which is taking a long time I'll bet) Is Onra's newest version gonna be compatable with all the Unique Landscapes mods that have been released to date singe the heightmap will soon be on one single large master file esm? I ask because I got about 23 different Unique Landscapes mods in a single OMOD thru http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=19370 that I play in and wouldn't wanna have to be told to turn any of them off if I want to play in Onra's newer (not yet released) heightmap version!

it was fully compatible with all UL up to Skingrad Outskirts...did not find the time yet to dl and install the latest UL Snowdale.....

however some lod mesh patches will be of course required ...for different Ul plugins and OC Leyawiin Reborn....

they are all fully compatible ( I did not test snowdale yet) ...only thing is I will have to create some lod mesh patches like the one I provided for UL River Brena and the Hammerfell heightmap....

Why is this mods tes nexus page down?

I am currently creating the whole thing completely new (for different reasons)....there will be only one Tamriel heightmap as a masterfile including all provinces, isles and surrounding seas...
this tamriel map will be released as a modders resource free to use for everyboy.....I will create myself plugins for every province...modders can choose then if they want to join forces with this project and add their stuff to these province esp's directly ( like Seigfried will do for Skyrim ), to use the heightmap and a province of their choice as a master..or to use the heightmap only for their own province mods...so that's why the nexus page is down atm

cheers

Onra, I know you're a busy person and all, but ever thought about posting a progress bar with a percentage of completeness (or posting some kind of percentage of completeness) to show us people waiting how long it'll be before it's finally re-released? (You don't have to put down a date of re-release, just a percentage of how much of it has been complete so far!)

I am currently cleaning and testing the whole thing ...also I am trying to generate bugfree lod meshes ( as far as possible with the crappy heightmap editor)

I'm a bit lost now. Are you still keeping Elsweyr and Valenwood separate, or did you change your mind and include those too?

it is one heightmap (one esp) now including complete Tamriel...the complete map has been remade ( added coastlines, rivers, isles etc) and improved with Geo Control (Erosion settings etc)
I know this will stop current projects for the moment but the new map looks really proffesional now and will be much easier to handle :-)

Will it be dependant on the Elsweyr mod, as the Elsweyr map is?

no I will try to create it that way that Elsweyr Anequina have to use the tamriel heightmap as a masterfile (when used together of course)

It won't mess up the Elsweyr Anequiona mod up or force the creators of the Elsweyr Anequina mod to have to release an updated version of their mod just to be compliant with your updated heightmaps, will it?

Also, is your heightmap masterfile going to put changes in Cyrodiil's heightmap that could have any kind of effects on the Unique Landscapes mods in any ways?

The crappy heightmap editor isn't causing those spikey looking tower glitches at the edges of the heightmap, is it? I just hope not, as such a glitch could be a big, major ruiner if that's the case! :(

Uhm, how does this exactly affect the current projects? I've put Senchal on hold for now. Still love the project and the new way of doing things sounds a lot less complicated for the end user and will probably keep you sane as well, but a bit more info on how to proceed further would be welcome. :)

Maybe I'll stop working on any cities until we have a more established version of the whole thing and start creating the interiors for new dungeons that can be easily placed around the map so the player has something to do.

There are actually a few reasons besides above why I put Senchal on hold: My re-release of StarX Vanilla Vampires Revised, my current work with Insanity Sorrow on a new weaponpack , which will have quite some usable stuff available as a modders resource. And last but not least I am in doubt if the architectural style I have chosen for Senchal is fitting, as the Jurad City tileset (for which there will be interiors available in the future!) seems way more fitting for Hammerfell.

Anyway, thanks for keeping up the hard work, Onra! I'm still with ya! :foodndrink:

Thanks mate! On another note: would you be interrested in some of the terrains I made for the jungle region. The terrains are suited for normal forrests (as in real forrests and not the grass covered vanilla forrests! :P ) and for jungles of course. Might help in adding some variety to the regions to get a head start.

Can one use parallax mapping, or what is the most forceful, effects on terrain? I am just wondering how much you can "rough" up the ground? It would probably look odd and add allot of artefacts but I wonder if I for one would prefer this to the "flatness" that sticks in my eyes at the moment; this is a question for all ground textures - you posting just made me think of this again.

Cheers!

hey StarX

I plan to create fully detailed and high quailty regions for the different provinces this time....so using this terrains would be fantastic.... :foodndrink:

@ all ...

let me know if you would like to add something to a province of your choice ( Seigfried will take care of Skyrim for example)

cheers

I really have no idea if parallax mapping can be used for terrain. Maybe someone can try or knows if it has already been done.
