Taper Values on Magic Effect

After reading the CK Wiki's http://www.creationkit.com/Magic_Effect#Tapering, and looking at the graph on that page, I think I have a pretty good grasp on how it works. However, there's one thing that's really confusing me. Some of the effects in Skyrim.esm have nothing but a taper weight set. For instance, Absorb Health, Absorb Magicka, and Absorb Stamina enchantments all have a Taper Weight of 1.0, but a taper duration and curve of 0.0. Since this is given to all the absorb effects, it seems too organized to be a mistake, and it makes me think this value must be doing something. But I'm not sure what.

According to the wiki, a taper weight is basically used to set the magnitude at the beginning of the taper period after the spell ends. So if you set taper weight to 0.5, and your spell does 20 damage, it will start by doing 10 damage at the beginning of the taper duration. But in the case of the spells I mentioned above, taper duration is 0.0, so there shouldn't even be a tapering period at all, should there?

Anyone know what this Taper Weight value accomplishes by itself?
