Tattoes?

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 1:32 pm

I think we should have tattoos in the game, not at the start. You are in a pre-war theme after all, it would be inappropriate to have a tattoo in the pre-war era. There should be some tattoo shops in the big towns of the wasteland, like in the big cities. Having tattoos on my character would really represent my character's personality, do you think we should have tattoos in Fallout 4?

Well, I'm planning on roleplaying as Jack from Mass Effect on one of my playthroughs, so I'd definitely be on-board with tattoos. I doubt that they will be in the game though because of how far along into development Fallout 4 is. Maybe mods or DLC.

I'm so sure about DLC, Fallout never really had any DLC that would give your character some more customization.

If Skyrim is any indication then tattoos are coming regardless of whether or not Bethesda feels like adding them. The Racemenu mod is just awesome.

Faction tatoos could be cool, like tatooing the BoS symbol in your forehead, making BoS like you more, but their rivals less.

Why would it be inappropriate to have a tattoo in the pre-war?

There was an "Extras" option in the character creation demo they never explored... seeing as how Skyrim had facepaints and we're shown a few NPCs that have some facepaint on them in other parts of the demo, I'd imagine tattoos are there in some form.

Maybe we won't have any Post-War options at chargen, but it would be great if there were some post-nuclear tattoo parlors and barbershops in the wasteland we could check out.

@tre288 Because in pre-war everybody had suits, wives in stuff, it would just be a bit inappropriate to have a tattoo in that time. I don't know that's just me though, but if I couldn't get tattoo for the rest of the game, then [censored] it. I'll have a tattoo in pre-war theme.

I don't think you have a decent grasp of the history of tattoos.

You can bet that if it were real life and the character we play as was some sort of military veteran, they'd be likely to have some sort of ink.

Yes, members of the military, bikers, alcoholics/drug addicts, and a whole slew of other types who don't fit in the previous categories.

Not everyone who gets tattooed is a dirty, filthy, stinking drug addict, or an outlaw biker. There are those who get them based on religious or cultural beliefs as well. tattoos go a very long way back. Alot longer than the last 50-100 years. If they were around in the Roman times, why in the world wouldn't they still be around after a nuclear war?

@GarretsFloyd I'm not saying they shouldn't be around after the war, I'm talking it being kind of inappropriate for your main character to have at the start.

Since when?

Tattoos date back at least 8,000 years, that's alot longer than America has been around. There's no logical reason why they should be inappropriate for your pre war (presumed military veteran) character. And we do know that members the military are no strangers to tattoos. So tell me again, just how exactly is inappropriate to have one pre war even if your character was never in the military? There are tons of perfectly legitimate reasons why people would want to get one...even in an idealized pre war world untouched by nuclear war.

EDIT: To clarify, I'm, not saying I want every other character in the pre war sequence to be covered in tattoos head to toe, but there is no reason why people in the world during that era wouldn't have them.

One of the possible "jobs" for passing the GOAT in Fallout 3 was even Tattoo artist.

Take a look at Brink. It did body art quite well imo. the only thing I could say to expand on is to mix and match.

Far Cry did Ink good too.

Honest Hearts did meh on the characters, but it was ok.

I'm hoping for in game tattoos, I'd prefer post war but pre war is fine but I'd say it would limit the types and locations

I hope we can have tattoos and/or scars. Even Geralt could get a naked lady with a sword tattooed on his neck :D

Should we? Yes.

Will we? Of course not.

Right. Weren't tattoos specifically used by soldiers coming home from war? I think that tradition really blew up during the mid cold-war period, which would totally fit the theme in Fallout.
