Tavern Music...

Post » Mon Apr 04, 2011 10:06 am

It has to be done. When i walk into a tavern, i want feel like ive walked into a tavern and not into a euthanasia clinic! I want music, shouting, dancing, pipe smoke and a few [censored]s scattered liberally around and then you'd really be able to tell what class of place you've gone into!

To be fair, an increased level of atmosphere all round would be good. I realise a GTA level of vibrancy would be hard as you need to be able to interact with everyone and hearing the sound of 300 people when you can only see 10 would be a little odd!

On a side note... bring back the ability to kick in doors and chests and being able to climb walls! :)

The censored section pertains to 'ladies of the night or maybe even 'men of the night' depending on your poison :)

"Not like you don't see Nords drinking all the damn time!"

I like the idea you put out.

With me it's
More Realism = More Immersion

When I find a free table in a tavern and I decide to sit down, I want a barmaid to come and serve me, asking whether she will get me that sammich.

There was a mod that put the Baldurs Gate tavern tunes into the lodges of Cryodill. Now That's What I Call Tavern Music! (volume 1)

Morrowind's House of Earthly Delights had more atmosphere than TES IV's taverns combined.

They really need to comission Soule to do some seedy bar music for the taverns in Skyrim.

Taverns should be very crowded in Skyrim anyways, drunken Nords as far the eye can see.

When I walk into a tavern i have to crowdclimb all the way to the barmaid to get some mead. Then im gonna dance a little, start a fight with a wood elf, getting kicked out, getting robbed and fall asleep in a huge barrel

There's a lack of sk-sk-skooma in that story. Add trying to hit on the barmaid too. :celebration:

You'r right! a little skooma in the dance break, a little skooma after getting denied by the waitress, a little skooma after punching a wood elf in the face. Hell I think my nord is gonna have one funny
hangover in that barrel, half frozen to death too, poor thing.

I expect that when I walk into a tavern in Skyrim I will go through seven barfights before reaching the bar for some mead... And that should be the Nord equivalent of a quiet night in.

If this does not happen I will be disappointed in them Nords. :shakehead:

Especially the minigames. We need them for the elder scrolls. This made it exceptionally nice to go down the boozer and that's what it's all about, isn't it?

When I walk in to a bar it needs to become completely quiet, and someone needs to get off of his seat, cause I'm sitting right there!

Yeah... you have a point...

I′ve never tought about that, but i agreed. Taverns really need some more athmosphere... Just some guys playing some music would be a great improvement. It should also bring some interesting side quest with the musicians... =D

So let them shout. No one's going to eat you in here and I don't see why you should care that much about it. Feel free to add your thoughts on tavern minigames. I for one would like dice poker (or is it poker dice), arm wrestling, boxing, booze competitions, don't recall what else. Music played by actual musicians.

Drunkards, drunkards everywhere!

I'd really like for the taverns to have more atmosphere. Hell, I'd like everything to have more atmosphere in general, compared to Oblivion.
That game just felt so vapid in some bits, especially taverns, shops and the like.

I'd love to see the odd barfight break out, that would be amazing.

You come into the tavern to get some information for a quest you're on and off to the side you see a Nord flip his [censored] and slug an Orsimer who's still sitting. The music stops as the bard tries to get out of the way of the brawling drunks. This spills into the part of the tavern you're in and you're faced with possibly being drawn into it as a plate or tankard is chucked at your head.

But alas, computers and consoles can only handle so much.
