Crytek
If Crysis 2 does well on the consoles can we see Crysis/Crysis Warhead on the consoles to cause some of us never played Crysis because we don't have a high end PCs to run it.

No even if it was on the Cryengine 3, this generation of consoles would be on fire. /thread

We will probably have a new generation of consoles by 2014, maybe even earlier if the gaming economy rebounds this year...

How so, this generation of consoles can run any game with the right software for it, look at Crysis 2, Mass Effect, Halo and Kotor they all start it out as PC titles then they were port it over to consoles so its possible.

Answer: Nope.

Here's the thing, Crysis 2 has a connection to Crysis 1/Warhead's story (not so much Warhead but still), yet the connection is not super strong. Because of this weak connection, it's easy to pick up the basic story in 2 for console players. Plus, maybe they might even explain what Crysis 1 and Warhead were about when the game comes out.

What you console gamers might miss out on in Crysis 1/Warhead are possible twists or easter eggs in 2 that make gamers go "OMG, HOW SWEEEET!!!!!!! :D!!" And also the gameplay in the games themselves (of course). Crysis 1/Warhead would never work on consoles unless a full remake was done. With prone, lean, the suit wheel, and everything not being streamlined, console gamers will HATE Crysis 1/warhead cuz of the controls on a gamepad.

They don't need to remake Crysis 1/Warhead just port them over to 360 and PS3 like everybody been doing to every other game series that been out on the market, just change the controls for the 360/PS3 tho.

I wouldn't want them working on remaking a great, but old game. I'd rather see and play fresh material. Crytek are amazing and I want to see what they can do next. They've already set the bar higher than the rest and they need to keep progressing and not look back.

Crysis will never be on a console, the gameplay would not work as it should by you consolerz trying to operate a nanosuit wheel, prone, and lean at the same time.

it cannot work, cry engine2 rely a lot on ram to work, they did make it work once on a ps3(well it took 4 unit linked togeter), and controller layout is too crowded
I uploaded the layout picture here : http://img213.imageshack.us/img213/3513/crysis2011022001531281.jpg

No way in hell that this piece of art would ever work on these consoles, if you really want to play it just buy a decent rig.

The console would explode if it loaded this game, they would have to limit the draw distance to 1 meter as someone else said :)

Crytek said when they released Crysis/Warhead that the game couldn't be done on the consoles. I'm sure they have done some good work creating a system that can create cross-platform games that scale well but some sacrifices have had to be made.

I think the main issue on putting the original Crysis games on console is the open world maps. The consoles don't have enough memory to hold the huge maps. There are scenes in Crysis where you can scope out an enemy encampment from a hillside a good half-mile away. You can watch all the troops patrolling and doing there thing. That's the sort of thing that the consoles cannot do and why the new series is set in New York.

I know this has nothing to do with the topic but you mentioned that the suit wheel had been taken out when in fact it is still there in Crysis 2

Both consoles have 512MB of ram I seen a lot of PC's on youtube playing Crysis/Crysis Warhead with 512MB graphics ram so I still don't see the problem with consoles, the consoles have 4 or 8 CPUs in them too just like the PC so whats the differences between them.

That's on Super Ultra Horrible Eye-Bleedingly Ugly Low mode. It looks like Deus Ex and runs like molasses.

On High sittings playing Crysis/warhead thats not Deus Ex graphics thats cryengine graphics with a 512MB graphics card, now if PC can do it that mean console do the same with High sittings.

Not to mention that vRAM and system RAM are two completely different things. Crysis requires atleast 2GB of system RAM to work at all (not even on highest settings), yet consoles do not even offer half of that.

512MB vRAM is completely different than the pitiful 512MB system ram the consoles offer. In fact, video cards these days offer 1.5GB of DDR5 vRAM, which is triple the amount of a console's total ram, all in a friggin video card.
