team deathmatch on brink yes or no. please help end this thr

Post » Thu May 19, 2011 5:33 am

lets kill this post for the last time and let the team deathmatch fans know what the brink community think of this mode. at least then they can get an idea of how many people would actually play this mode along with them. i for one are not interested in this mode one bit and hope it never come to brink. but anything to do with objectives and teamwork yes bring it on.

You're missing the "i don't care option".

There will be people that say "Yes. I'd only play this", "Yes, but I'd play all modes", "No. Never." and "I don't care either way".

I doubt this thread will end all future reposts concerning TDM.

I doubt this thread will end all future reposts concerning TDM.

You should make a thread about that :hubbahubba:

And I haven't voted... i'm on the fence about TDM. Currently I don't want it but if someone can come up with a good TDM that isn't vanilla TDM and is different to the standard game mode (which I see as TDM + objectives) then I could be argued over to their side.

If you want to play TDM buy COD, Brink will not translate well into TDM.

I wouldn't BOTHER to play it, and I'd rather if they do any TDM connected to Brink, that it be a separate, small downloadable game with TDM and DM and nothing else, using the SMART system. No CPs, no classes, etc.

EDIT: Also not voting until there's a "don't care" option.

I would like to see TDM, and other gametypes like CTF and HQ added. Its not the be all and end all. I love the game as it is. But it would add some more veriety and longevity to the game

Another good way would be to stop posting in them.

More seriously though, keep this one near the top of the page, and we might not have to deal with more for a while.

Technically the OP is asking to "please help end this thread". Not all TDM threads... THIS thread.
Easiest way I can think of doing that is simply contravening the TOS and getting it locked. I find locking tends to end threads quickly ;)

To be honest I'm still waiting for good arguments for TDM other than "'cos we want it" or "'cos this is an FPS".
I heard someone suggest something pretty good: New maps that are low on objectives so that they're basically TDM and the TDM fans can utilise those maps. That way they can TDM without letting more than an objective get in their way (which they can mostly ignore if they want to).

Easily the most poignant post made on the "Brink TDM" subject. Well said, sir.

Good idea, that work, though honestly the amount of people i see online just ignoring objectives to get kills makes me wonder ^^

I expressed my opinions in another thread but it's probably more relevant here...

Bugs and glitches aside, I love the existing format of Brink - the most fun I've had in an FPS since the original Call of Duty (the one with maps based on episodes of Band of Brothers).

I honestly don't understand why so many people hold such vitriolic contempt for anyone that doesn't agree with their personal opinions.

Personally, and I mean in a few months time, I wouldn't object to other game modes. My reason for this is (surprise surprise) entirely selfish... I don't want to have to install lots of different games so that I can play alternative game modes when I feel like it. I want to have my cake and eat it, and I want Brink to deliver the goods for me. But whether or not that'll ever become a reality is a different kettle of fish.

My wishlist would include something like...

* A "Parkour This" mode for the online maps - something that would give you a challenge to hit checkpoints before the timer runs out... maybe even a multiplayer parkour race across a map (it's up to each competitor which path he chooses to take to each checkpoint).

* Some form of game mode that allows for a less linear use of maps, - Some form of death match would actually make this possible... nothing too diverse - no kill/death stats but just a winning team and a losing one... I'd even settle for it in only single player with bots (I'm talking about personal enjoyment here, not for a minute suggesting this would be better than what we already got, but merely an extra option for people like me that don't want to fill their hard drives with tons of games).

That said, the first thing I want is for the existing game to run properly before other modes are considered... people screaming for modes right now must be more patient and people hating anybody that dares to suggest additional game modes need to be more tolerant... after all, additional game modes are exactly that - additional - they will not replace what we already have, so to get in a rage over simply the thought of them is a bit ridiculous.

I think something that people are failing to comprehend is that every mode in every FPS is Team Death Match. Sometimes it's glorified TDM like Capture the Flag, King of the Hill and Head Hunter, but it's still just a version of TDM.

The only TDM's I ever liked are the ones with no respawns and used a timer. Other then that, I don't play then any more. Not only does it require no skill or thought...the mode gets boring really fast and is basically senseless. Besides, there's enough games with that MO, let the people who want change have something to enjoy too. I had to stop playing with a few dudes because all they cared about was running and gunning then talk smack to the opposite team after the game... as if they really did something, LOL. I was kinda embarrassed playing with these clowns. I'm not saying all TDM players are like this, but imo the majority are. I prefer objectives. Give me a challenge and create a game that will have people actually working with it other instead of against each other....its enough of that in the real world.

I vote no on TDM because if we get that then we get KDR and once we get KDR, this game will devolve into just another shooter (not to mention render many of the abilities useless) which means it will run rampant with selfish campers who only care about their stats. This goes against everything that Brink is about so no. And anyone who says a separate game mode wouldn't hurt you are wrong. It will split already small community. I know many gamers these days expect certain things to come standard but Brink is trying to be different and this just happens to be one of the things that set it apart. Personally, I find it refreshing that someone has the balls to make a game that doesn't reward selfish behavior.

We don't need either DM or TDM, we need increased functionality based on the already-existing system i.e. more new maps, improved weapons/attachments, and fixes for multiplayer.

CTF might be nice down the road, but adding any sort of Death Match option will kill this game imo.

I agree with Brotox, a game that doesn't reward selfish behavior is a more enjoyable and rewarding experience. If you wanna shoot everything that moves all the time, go play COD or Gears or one of the thousands of other pointless, repetitive, and ultimately boring FPS games that are available until you see fit to stop bashing your head maniacally into that brick wall.

DM or TDM has so no place in this game. The whole thing has been built around its objective mode teamplay - which frankly, just doesnt get old. Having no K/D scores on the scoreboard is like a breath of fresh air. In order to chase the higher scores, people actually have to do teamwork - fantastic design decision.

Nonononononononononononono, for the love of [censored] all things holy, NO.

TDM has it's place, and it's not in Brink. Square peg, round hole. Please seek your K/D twitch, smack-talking lulz elsewhere.

Why not TDM as a option . Its just another game mode you are not being forced to play.Who cares if your not interested in TDM. DON'T PLAY IT SIMPLE. This game was bought by fans of FPS bro . It should offer something for EVERYBODY to enjoy. I wouldn't play it that much but sometimes its cool just to waste everyone around you without worrying about objectives. Lighten up a little dude we all payed $ for this game.
