[REQ] A Team of Monkies to help me make a mod

Post » Sat Apr 30, 2011 9:56 pm

[SUMMARY] need CS quest scripters, and retexturer for a new quest mod in the painted world

okay, well, I don't want to just make a BIG request thread and not be able to help with my request. Oh and sorry for another post, I think two of my recent posts already sank past page 3, and my more recent one has been resolved (essentially) so it should sink soon too.

Anyways, I just finished the vanilla quest " A Brush With Death" (or something a long those lines) and realized...the painted world is never used again! I looked through Nexus to see if someone had thought the same thing and decided to make a new painted world, but no. I also asked in Mod Psychics and, once again, no. I only got one response, and I suppose I should wait for another or two to help confirm that it hasn't been done yet, but I am impatient, and so here I am.

The mod would use mostly vanilla resources, I don't want some extensive overhaul of meshes and textures. However I was thinking that some things might need to be retextured to have a more...paint feeling to them to fit the environment.
I don't want to go off into details about how I imagine it because, I am sure a lot of you don't care, and how I dream it probably won't be how its made. I will explain details to the others, once I get the team together.
(Let me take a minute here to say, in all sincerity, if you are offended by being called a monkey I apologize. But just note, I am calling myself a monkey too.)

So, in the long run, we'd need maybe 1 or 2 who are familiar with the CS, and one person who can do retexturing and texture designing, possibly some light scripting (nothign heavy that would require OBSE or anything, just normal quest scripting and so forth), and once the monkies are gathered I will pump out a story (which I have one floating in my head already) and then hopefully it won't take long to make it come true. (I don't plan on making this an epic. Possibly 2 small towns, a main quest story, and a few side quests...)

*Also, if anyone can do modeling it would be great for you to join too...but I don't deem it necessary to have a modler in here. Just it would be cool to have, new, original painted weapons.

thank you all! :)

*Upon request, I present details of your job...for anyoen who wants to help

Scripter: Scripting quests, and simple events (as stated above, nothing that would require heavy scripting, like throwing a weapon)

CS users: Dungeon Designers/world space designer, NPC's (Their AI packages and so forth)

Texturer: Recreating existing textures for specific objects (such as a house) to have a more "painted" look to it.

*Additional People

Moddler: Possibly a weapon or set of armor

Voice Actors: Having voices to lines of texts always makes things better, but I don't think it is required either.

Let me know if there are any other details you may want to know about whatever part you wish to fill.

~PS, we also could use a person who has a Banana farm. Brainstorming makes us monkies hungry, so we'll need lots of banana.

um....okay, I suppose a team of cows is fine too...
How well do you imagine cows work with monkeys (excuse me for my spelling on monkEYS)? Pretty efficiently?

anyways, are you saying you are willing to help or is that a no?

A member browsing this forum as "turkeys" might be interested.

This bovine was just joking. Good luck.

okay, golden rules of asking for people.

Have something ot show for progress is the best thing, but in your case sounds like this hasnt started yet.

Explain clearly what people will be needed for and what they will have to do. "Scripter" isnt very good, what will they have to script exsactly? same with 'CS people' there are many parts to the CS, what do they have to know how to use?

never skimp out on the details of the mod, people want to know what they are working on before they will want to help.

EDIT: a good example, you dont a sign a contract unless you get to read it all and know what signing up means. signing up for a mod is the same.

fwoo...I was worried there for a minute, I heard the tectonic plates shifting, so I quickly rushed to put those details down.

So, anyways, is that all you are here about, or how about a little business deal? ha ha

dont be suprised if nobody signs up, there are not many modders around that want to develop another person's mod....mostly too busy with thier own. If you get started and do what you can (even if it just putting stuff in a worldspace), then later on people might start helping more, or even if it just a script you need, a topic in the CS forum wil; normally get it written for you.

often successful teams are made by advertising through a thread (though for people just doing CS work through a thread is properbly the best way), but with a help topic in the CS forum and it gets someone interested, then they might start permanantly helping you.

hmm, true. I didn't want this to exactly feel like it's MY mod, as that cliche saying goes, "There is no I in team", so I wasn't going to just give credit to the other helpers, I would present it as all of our mods. But nonetheless, I suppose I could start.
Quick question though, if I began creating the cities, though the buildings do not have the "painted" texture yet, would I have to scrap all that work so I can replace it with the "painted" buildings?

just copy the buidling's form in the object window and use the copy. then you can change the mesh for that late on.

A bit of honest advice. Do some work first, learn the skills you are asking others to do for you, then present the work as ongoing and gradually people will help out a little at a time. If you expect the crowds to flock, then the work to start, you will wait long.
