Teaming system in Crysis 2 MP

Post » Tue Dec 21, 2010 4:26 pm

I've not played many shooters' multiplayers.
But in the last one I've played, Bioshock 2, you cannot choose your team and every round the players are assigned to different teams randomly.
This means I cannot stay in the same team with my friends everytime and it's quite meaningless to find some friends to play together.
I'm wondering what would Crysis 2's multiplayer teaming system looks like.
If the teaming system is the same as the one in Bioshock 2, then I probably won't persuade my friends to buy this game for multiplayer.

bioshocks 2s mp was just a small add in, not very much depth, there will definetley be a party system in crysis 2 because if you watch some multiplayer vids you can see it says squad: and then your name beneath it which look like it works exactly like the party system on cod and other games.

:S cod parties: Join friends games and get other friends to join. Crysis 2 squads are the same only different name.
Instead of "Hey man join my party" It'll become "Hey man join my squad.

Crysis had a friends list, a chat lobby too! You could also sort of 'squad' with people in-game by giving them a highlighted name on-screen.

yeah but that friends list was useless since you couldnt join the friends game and the chat lobby was open for everyone, you couldnt have a private chat
that highlight name was the only good help for team playing

Everybody knows random svcks, because most of all game modes creates for team work. In every shooter, not excluding Crysis 2, I think. But I would not be surprised if Crytek don't give a **** about us, PC gamers. All their last PR is like: "plz, buy our engine and our 3D technology", but absolutely nothing about game and differences between console and PC versions of game.

I have a theory that Crytek was actually working on a fully functional friends list (with join match availability), and real squad gameplay for Crysis, but it never got finished due to the game getting rushed by EA before you guys were ready to launch it... Crysis had so many features left unfinished. :)

I never liked BC2's squad system

When you were fighting someone, suddenly 2 teammates spawned on him and kill you

nobody on my squad wants to respawn, they just wait until someone from the squad gets to the battle field

I spawn on my teammate while he was getting shot and i die

I'm going to spawn on my teammate and 1 second before spawn he dies and I Spawn on the farthest point

Also, the Squad system made Instant-Spawning gamemodes impossible because everyone would spawn on their teammates again, and the 10 second wait after every dead made the game boring when your team was getting dominated

i agree with this, but is the only way for the game to work or else rush would be almost impossible and it works both ways, you can get a kill right when you spawn or you can get killed

nobody on my squad wants to respawn, they just wait until someone from the squad gets to the battle field

squad system works if people know how to play lol, if they just want to camp or wait till other team members do everything then no system will work

I'm going to spawn on my teammate and 1 second before spawn he dies and I Spawn on the farthest point

i think this was solved later, i remember that if the guy that i was going to spawn in died i could choose another

also is obvious that for this system to work on other games it would need to be adapted and prob that would solve some of these issues

I would say halo 3 and reach had a good spawn on teammate feature such as invasion and campaign where you can only spawn when your team mate is safe and out of battle.

Hopefully they'll ditch the friends list and chat lobby in order to make room for a full Steamworks integration :D

steamworks would be nice in the way that it just works (and well at that). But it won't happen in crysis 2.

You did not use the BC2 squad spawn system correctly then. If you spawn on somebody and die immediately, it is your own fault for not having the patience to see if whoever is in your squad is in a battle. Also, people spawning and killing you should not be happening, they should be easy meat for your rifles.

Theories... Rumors... Speculations. Why is Crytek being so secretive about small yet important details? They should start replying a bit more... And I don't know if it's asking too much, but maybe they could for once answer a question with something other than:

"No info at this time"
"Any future plans will be announced first on gamesas.com"
"Nothing official has been released yet"
"No details have been announced yet"
"Hopefully!"
"Sorry, I can't confirm or deny that."
"Soon!"
"No information I'm afraid!"

How stupidly unhelpful. Nice to know that Crytek knows their game well enough to be able to tell us nothing.

Its not squad its a party up system. AKA I go get some friends and we as a whole stay on the same team as a party going into Matchmaking lobbies.

I think this is now a must-have and I see no reason why they wouldn't put this in.
