Teams!

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 4:56 pm

In brink there are two teams each with a separate campaign. You can create and customize a character in serious depth! A character can go between online and the campaign experiencing in both.
Will one character only be linked to one team (for example the rebels)? so he can only play online for the rebels and has the rebel based campaign.
Will online stats will they be linked to characters or accounts or a set of statistics for each team?
How many characters are we going to be allowed to have?

Any details on how characters in accounts are useful to know! :P

16 characters can be made per account

When you make a character you design an outfit for both sides because online it will randomly put you on either side.

1. No you can have one character for both
2. If you mean leaderboards, there are none
3. you can make up to 16 characters

Read http://www.fragworld.org/frag/community-blogs/brink-info-pt-1-story-gameplay-smart-classes-and-objectives.html twice. It will tell you everything you need to know about Brink, and I say twice because you'll some info on your first read. Also welcome to the forums here a pocket ninja. :ninja:

I've heard you get a say in what faction you want to be in, and the game tries to put you in said faction.

You can say what faction you want to be put in(Probably in online preferences or something), but you still make a character for both factions.

I heard nothing of this team preference. Might be a PC thing......

You can choose which faction's campaign you want to take part in in the SP and at least Co-op, so assuming it continues to blend that I would assume it would be the same for competetive as well.

I meant multiplayer wise like joining a match online. Not solo or co-op campaign.

Hopefully, you get to set a preference on consoles, too. Who's to say your character built as Resistance is gonna look awesome as Security, too? Not to mention if your Resy isn't going shirtless. Gotta wear a shirt if you're playing on the Shirts team.

Inversely, a geared out Sec character might turn into gutter trash when translated into a Resy.

Then again, I may not understand this "one character, both factions" arrangement. I don't recall the Compendium addressing whether you customized clothing for both sides before you save a character, or if you build it one way and it's automatically translated into the other faction when necessary.

Right, but with those being implemented in the SP + Co-op, along with the whole "build your identity, your story" idea they're pushing it would make sense that there will be some option to allow you to keep your player on one faction or the other throughout.

I mean I would feel rather silly if I went almost all the way through the story as a Sec member only to land in the last mission for the Resistance.

There's a button to switch to the clothing loadout of the other team. You customize both teams.

I think this is correct.

Campaign will be the one gamemode which allows you to pick a faction throughout all maps.

In Freeplay and Stopwatch, you will have to chose for every map or - in matchmaking - will be assigned to one team.

That's what I was saying but had a hard time saying.
