Technical criticism from a software professional

Okay. Honestly, I'm kind of at a loss, here.

Mods have intervened in this thread numerous times to mention to keep on topic, to use the PM system if you absolutely have to discuss something that doesn't belong in this topic, and to not discuss moderator actions within this thread (all of which are no-nos that are outlined in the http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1120448-important-forum-information/.)

I've really, really tried to keep this thread open. I don't think anyone can argue otherwise at this point. (I would not be surprised to find that I have more total posts in thread than anyone else. Most of this thread is talking more about Moderator actions than the actual topic itself.)

I'm really trying to be patient. And I'm giving more leeway than I normally would, here.

So pretty please, with sugar on top? Keep further discussion civil, on topic, and within the bounds of our rules. I will lock this topic if I have to come back. I just no longer have the energy to keep coming back and playing clean-up, here.

And seriously - if you want to talk to a Moderator about something, just PM. We honestly don't mind answering messages...

In an attempt to actually listen to what we've been asked to do, I'm going to behave and put in my two cents worth on this subject.

Yes, this is absolutely abysmal that they let this game out with so many glitches. Yes, we're all furious that the patch is taking so long.

But also: Yes, the process of making a patch is long and complicated and deserves patience. Yes, Bethesda cannot be blamed entirely for this mess.

Having gotten out of the way that both sides have fair points, I would like to say that my main grievance is not that they haven't come out with the patch yet, it's that they aren't really talking to us. Sure, they make obligatory apologetic posts from time to time, but they don't really say anything.

They could spare themselves so much grief and actually gain appreciation amongst their customers if they would keep a relatively open dialogue with the players. Tell us how things are going, explain what specific bugs their ironing out. Even if we don't really understand what they're doing, it's nice to hear about their efforts, all toiling to help us enjoy the game. I hate being ignored or kept in the dark; I'm fine with being patient.

As a general claim that isn't true. A [censuraed] patch could take two [censuraed] hours to make. Obviously it depends on what they're trying to fix. You could speculate that this particular [censuraed] patch is very difficult and time consuming, because it takes them this long. But that is making the assumption that it is in fact the [censuraed] difficulty of this patch that is the reason for the delay, but that we don't know. Maybe they're prioritizing the [censuraed] DLC. Obviously some programming (not only design) is needed for the DLC, and that means less resources to fixing the [censuraed] bugs. [censuraed]

Despite two moderators trying to explain and keep this post open it seems it isn't working. Closed for review by the moderators,
