Telekinesis should be like The Force

It would be cool if telekinesis could be like http://www.google.com.ph/imgres?imgurl=http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Ppxpwapalkc/Sa9czTYZwGI/AAAAAAAAAKM/ogcSDL2p7oc/s400/lolcats%2B-%2Bi%27m%2Busing%2Bda%2Bforce.jpg&imgrefurl=http://istillwannabeakid.blogspot.com/2009/03/lolcats-gah-they-are-so-cute.html&usg=__obay5sNUUxq-_OZm9-j_vvd5apQ=&h=350&w=310&sz=35&hl=tl&start=0&zoom=1&tbnid=jqKCJU-EnoPcgM:&tbnh=135&tbnw=120&ei=_CXqTanqNoayvwOO4NzQDw&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dusing%2Bthe%2Bforce%26hl%3Dtl%26biw%3D1360%26bih%3D573%26gbv%3D2%26tbm%3Disch&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=464&vpy=52&dur=1156&hovh=239&hovw=211&tx=111&ty=126&page=1&ndsp=21&ved=1t:429,r:2,s:0&biw=1360&bih=573:

A.) Disarm Weapons or Shield- You press a button multiple times like mad, then when pressed enough, your opponent's weapon flings away. Number of times the button is pressed depends on the weight of the shield or weapon.

B.) Levitate and Fling- You could make NPCs/creatures levitate like Wingardium Leviosa, then like an item fling them away. How you can make them levitate depends on the target's willpower. When the target is down, he will have to get up, much like the aftermath of paralysis in OB.

C.) Deflect Projectiles- When things like arrows go your way, if you could time it right, you could stop the arrow in its tracks and at a higher perk, throw them back. Depends on your timing.

The main drawback is that you stand still since you are focusing your mind.

In battle, if you are have all perks regarding Telekinesis, it will look like this:

PC is wandering around the frozen wilderness, hunting Dragons, then sees a Bandit Bowman (which will now be known as BB), yelling "Jump on my sword while you can!", while CLEARLY he has bow equipped. He then takes the bow, and fires an elven arrow at PC. PC, a master in telekinesis, stands there deflecting the arrows back at BB. BB says "WTH?", then grabs a dagger a charges to PC. The PC, still standing still, yells 'EXPELLIARMUS!", and the BBs dagger is thrown away. BB, now frustrated, pulls out his fists and continues to charge to PC. The PC, realizing he can't disarm someone's fists, while STILL standing still, levitates the opponent with ease, flings him upward, casts a fireball, then puts a flaming gylph on the ground. When the BB lands, trying to get up, the gylph explodes in his face. Then PC continues on, still searching for dragons.

Sorry about the story, got carried away.

Anyways what do you think?

Yes definitely it was pretty much what i had hoped for with Oblivion before being completely disappointed, however it would have to be balanced.

There is the part where you sit like a duck while using telekinesis. Oh, let's add that all spell effects on you that you cast yourself are removed, because you should be REALLY concentrated.

No thanks, save that for Star Wars mods.
Picking up and throwing objects is enough.

A. That's a bit overpowered, i think. Combat would become too easy.
B. You can already push people back with a dragon shout; that's close enough.
C. Shield spells, my friend.

Sorry, it's a bad idea for vanilla Skyrim. Maybe a Star Wars mod (Hoth mod, perhaps?) will fulfill your dreams.

A. You stand there doing nothing but pressing a button 30 times while the opponent is mashing you with a warhammer. How's that easy?
B. Hmmm yeah but you cannot control them.
C. Shield spells don't deflect arrow, but think of it as reflect damage for arrows.

A. Or you could KNOCK it out of their hands with a few swings or bashes.
B. Still no point to levitating and flinging when you can push someone back with one dragon shout. Flinging sounds cool, but its overpowered.
C. Regular shields do block arrows, though. And we also don't know how shield spells will work in Skyrim.

You asked for other people's opinions. We are giving them. If you are a PC gamer (like me), then you can download a mod. If not, too bad. If they overpower magic, there will be no reason to use weapons. So, telekinesis will not be like the Force.

I think it would be awesome.... without the harry potter stuff of course.
And I'm not fond of the spasm-clicking thing. I don't know how I would want it to be done but not by flabbergasted, super epileptic, mega spasm.

edit:
Ok, it could function like this:
  • to be able to use all the telekinesis stuff one must dual wield it.
  • one click on Lmb(left mouse button) creates a narrow force push which damages and staggers, or worse. only hits one target
  • one click on rmb, creates a 360 degree force push, does not damage only staggers. fairly short distance.
  • holding Lmb and targeting a movable object(such as a fruit or a bandit) levitates it. it creates a force in the direction the mouse is moving. higher object mass --> lesser acceleration and higher mana drain, higher skill --> stronger acceleration and lesser mana drain
  • holding rmb on a NPC target disarms it

the different actions are added as perks.
this can get very imbalanced so it has to drain mana fast
so if you're trying to "fling" a bandit you cant do any thing else, e.g standing still and do nothing else, which leaves you very exposed

I wouldn't mind the catching arrows midair thing. But flinging enemies around would be a bit much, would make the rest of combat a bit too trivial (no need to disarm, or cast any other spells, just keep flinging them around like a tennis ball). The disarm thing would get old quite quickly and take combat away from what the devs are trying to achieve (precision key presses, not omg-aaaaarrgh-RSI key smashes). However.....telekinesis pulling weapons out of sheaths etc from a distance? Disarm them before the combat begins!

In OB, I always wished things like tables and chairs could be affected by telekinesis (and flinging objects did damage). I wanted to pick up a table to block an enemies arrows/spells, and then throw it at them :D But then, to that end I always reflect spell actually reflected the spell back. Not zone the damage back.

There is already a dragon shout for pushing people back. Weapon combat staggers people. Again, if magic is overpowered, then all other forms of combat become pointless.

It should work better than in http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Telekinesis and http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Telekinesis, but not be overpowered.

I think it would fit in for a mage. the new leveling system makes it impossible to be best at everything. so for mage, who's not that great at close combat, telekinesis would be very great to have.
i know it can get very overpowered, so if they(bethesda) balances it with mana cost and skill tree cost, so you cant get awesome at close combat and telekinesis at the same time. it would be very fun to have.

I like your ideas. I hope benthesa has improved telekinesis spell effect. Stealing items, pullling ladders and pushing buttons a far is usefull, but.disarming foes and deflecting their arrows sound really cool :)

I'd like to be able to grab projectiles and nearby debris (Boulder) to block or chuck em at nearby enemies.

Grabbing enemies themselves would make it too easy (I'd just throw them off a cliff or against the ground 30 times in a row to knock them out).

But telekinesis should not be as powerful as The Force. That's too powerful for one spell effect.

Some people need to recheck the TES lore. Telekinesis http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Mysticism, http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Mysticism_%28skill%29, and http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Telekinesis http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Telekinesis. So, Jedi powers and The Force would not fit into Skyrim. Sorry.

I'd also like a spell similar to force destruction, and one similar to force sight.
