Teliknesis and you!

Post » Tue Jan 18, 2011 2:20 pm

Ok, correct me if im wrong as i think i used it once in oblivion, you couldnt pick up people or monsters wih teliknesis?
Immagine the possiblilty of being able to throw somebody off a cliff, or drown a troll in a lake? picking up swords and throwing them with TK at an enemy?
The spell would level up, allowing you to pick up heavier objects as the level progresses.
thoughts?

While you're at it, give them a lightsaber. But seriously, it's an okay idea, but I would be so angry if something like this was included but levitation wasn't.

While that video shows that Morrowind's levitation was broken/unbalanced, it also shows that Morrowind's mercantile system, alchemy system, stat caps, and main quest line were broken. There are definitely ways levitation could be implemented with less of a possibility of game breaking exploits.

Levitation should work like in Dark Messiah. As for pushing someone off a cliff: FUS ROH DAH!

Yeah Telekinesis was aweful in OB...I actually used it ONCE! What is the point taking the time to aim at innanimate object, blast it with yellow light and bring it to you, when you could just easily walk up to it and pick it up.

It would be much better if you could use it offensively (push, pull, grab, pick up objects and throw them at enemies) or defensively (telekinetic force field/shield/wall). Yeah it would be like Star Wars or X-Men, but I would use it most definitely.

Make a dude with mage/necromancer robes and a two-handed katana with telekinesis, you've got a very primative jedi/sith.
I always wanted to make a dude with the Dark Brotherhood robes and the backflipping acrobatics...i actually made a character like that but he lacked the telekinesis....had to go with lightning instead. Too bad you can't mod on a PS3! and telekinesis is sh!te

Telekinesis was supposed to be used to grab out of reach items. The best example would be the stones found in Alyeid Ruins. Some were out of reach and would require an arrow or fireball spell to get it off the stand. Or you could use telekinesis to float it too you. It was also useful for displaying objects in your house or recharging your mana through magic absorption. I think you could also use it to trigger certain traps. If it was used as a force knockoff it would be too unbalanced. I would like to see it return in Skyrim.

Although you could "throw" objects with it there was no point really. It would actually be cool/funny if you could throw stuff like forks and apples at people to cause damage. Imagine if you killed a dragon by throwing a watermelon at it?

I seem to recall reading in one of the Italian interviews that Telekinesis will be slightly closer to the Bioshock version, as opposed to the Oblivion version.

I hope that's the case - Telekinesis was lots of fun in Bioshock.

Yeah, cos thats what i want to use telekinesis for. I'm not playing as a home decorator, I'm a warrior, a combatant. And as for reaching things, i'd prefer to reach an enemy and fling him off a cliff top into a deep chasm.

It'd be nice to go full on Vader with strangulation. That'd be awesome. I have a feeling that I'll be using primarily telekinesis instead of Destruction in Skyrim. Wait, what skill set is telekinesis in since Mysticism is gone?

I agree, if I could lift people with telekensis I'd wonder why I can't levitate.

I'd be satisfied with being able to throw knives and other weapons .

Hopefully having full Spell Absorption won't counter the ability to use Telekinesis, like in Oblivion.
Either that or full Spell Reflection, or something. In any case, I was unable to use Telekinesis because of it.

A bit more powerful than a paralysis spell I'd say, but not much more.

Myself and some other people that i have discussed this with believe that some mysticism type spells have been incorperated into alteration. I think telekinesis should be more combat effective. with the new spell effects it could be used to do multiple things, simple force push with a tap of the trigger, hold down trigger to lift people or objects look in a direction or at a enemy and release the trigger to throw, double tap then hold to create a shield. and dual wield telekinesis to both hands to create a force push in all directions, lift and throw multiple objects or people, and finally to levitate

yes, would be great to make telekenisis useful for a change. Make it actually have some combat significance, instead of just floating apples around a room (which can be done with the grab key anyway), or picking up welkynd stones (which any char with decent acrobatics can reach anyway).
Only use I've ever had for telekenisis was in morrowind, had a ring enchanted with water walking and telekenisis, used it to collect pearls without having to worry about dreugh or slaughterfish.
